I posted a question a few weeks ago about the online teachers program at Rio Salado College and you had some warnings about a program such as this. I have recently checked with the state of Alabama and they said that as long as the program is regionally accrediated and state approved that I should not have a problem getting a teacher certificate from the state of Alabama. Rio Salado is both regionally accrediated and state approved. The state of Alabama did tell me that I would need to get a letter of recommendation from the school to the state as part of the process of getting a teaching certificate. Rio Salado said that this would not be a problem. Do you or anyone else on the discussion board have any additonal information regarding this program? Thank you for any help!
I took a course through Rio a few months ago and while it was a little lean in content the lessons were well designed and the intructor was terrific about turnaround to questions. I periodically receive a Rio snail-mail bulletin and when I noticed this program I had a question I suggest you run by the Alabama credentialling folk. Will Alabama accept what is essentially a bachelor's level certification from a community college?
David pretty well sums it up.....SACS and Alabama have their own interpretation as to the meaning of schools and courses. Please check before you invest your money. ------------------ Howard Rodgers
