My wife's employer was bought by another company. There was an e-mail sent yesterday that their current tuition reimbursement plan will cover any courses started by June 30. The current plan offers $5000 a year. The new one is barely $1000 a year.

She is going to work towards a business degree at TESC or COSC. She has not applied to either yet. I want her to do CLEP tests, but she hasn't been keen on doing any yet.

My initial reaction is to sign her up for a large number of LSU correspondence courses as they allow 9 months for completion after the start. Each course is 250, but we would have to pay Univ. of Memphis testing center for each examination for the courses. Also a lot of the LSU courses are on hold right now and not available.

So does anyone have any other suggestions to go along with LSU to go towards a degree. I do not know if they would reimburse for Penn Foster, so I am thinking only regionally accredited schools. Classes must start by June 30 and be flexible as she really couldn't take too many strictly summer courses as she is working full time.

Well, going to Penn Froster is doesn't do any good for transfering credits. Why don't you apply to Andrew Jackson University with sponsor tuition? It is an National Accredited School. Also, University of Wyoming tuition is extremely cheap, just only $94.00 per credit. Why would you use University of Memphis testing when some school allow immediate manager can proctor the exam?

Athabasca University - They give 6 months to complete a course. They start the first of every month.

I would also have her double check the requirements for the school to be eligible for reimbursement. I work for a large bank and as long as the school is listed in one of these sources they allow it: American Council on Education publication, within the United States Department of Education, or the Council for Higher Education. Penn Foster would be allowed for my bank.

Note - Athabasca University is regionally accredited by Middle States, so this school meets your stated criteria.

The drop of USD4000.00 per year in tuition reimbursement is amazing. The new ownership might be looking into outsourcing much of the business functions or other cost-reduction strategies in the future. The situation sounds all too familiar based on the place I worked last year.

LSU will likely cap concurrent course enrollment at either 3 or 4 3-credit courses. Andrew Jackson University with its sponsored tuition and national (DETC) accreditation would be a cost-effective way to earn a business degree and there are a growing list of schools accepting a nationally accredited undergraduate degree for admission to their graduate degrees.

Her immediate supervisor is several states away and I believe LSU requires a proctor at another school. I very well could be wrong.

In your wife's case, AJU is going to be a tough act to beat. $1,000 goes a long way there.
