Online DBA as an alternative to NorthCentral University

I am looking for an online DBA that is RA and that does not cost a fortune. I was ready to enroll with NorthCentral University, but now that NCU canceled all academic contracts, I need to find a different option.

I know that I could enroll with Argosy University, University of Pheonix, Capella University, or Walden University, but they are all very, very expensive.

Does anyone have a suggested alternative to NorthCentral University? It seems that the only option I remain with is to go with a DETC accredited school (California InterContinental University or Columbia Southern Univeristy).

    Please help. Thanks!

NCU is already the cheapest option for an Accredited DBA. If you cannot afford NCU, the only credible option is South African. There are few Universities in South Africa offering DBA degrees.

I did not see any cancellation of academic contracts, other than adjustment necessary to comply with RA accreditation standards and make NCU's degrees par to other institutions of higher learning. Lets face it, change is inevitable and will come like or not.

Perhaps you are over reacting to another thread put out by a first time poster
    http://www.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?t=30905
You should check out this information with NCU and perhaps NCU to determine what the real story is here.
I am always skeptical of first time posters who arrive with a negative story and minimal back up information.
NCU got sold recently so the referenced post might be related to this.

TUI University has an online PhD in Business Administration that I think is around $2,000 to $2500 per course. I think the total cost of the degree depends on how quickly you can finish the dissertation.

How exactly does this effect you?

It affects me if NCU starts changing the rules of the game in the middle of a DBA program. It would also affect me if NCU loses its accreditation.

I'm an NCU doctoral learner. I haven't really noticed the changes to affect me to tell the truth. I have seen some changes but they have not appeared to be that big of a deal. I may be wrong and others can chime in on the topic. Do you think NCU will lose accreditation? What gives you that idea?

NCU isn't going to lose accreditation. Poppycock. Unfortunately, many students spend a couple of years doing coursework, only to find that they can't pass the academic requirements to successfully complete a dissertation, so many of them leave heartbroken, while others leave angrily with with sour-grapes-of-destruction-by-any-means-necessary. If they can't have a doctorate, then no one can. The attrition rate at the dissertation is over 50% at most universities. It's painful to leave without a degree after pouring your heart, mind, soul -- and money -- into it.

This is the 21st Century and there will be more regionally accredited online degrees in the future -- not less.

Agreed. I think more online schools will be accredited in the future and I also think that more B&M schools will have online degree programs in the future. I am meaning in subjects that dont have them now ( Sociology, History, etc). Just my three cents.

Thank you for your replies. The point is: Is there an alternative to NCU TODAY?

There are a myriad of alternatives to NCU to get regionally accredited online doctorates, to include:
    - Touro University
    - Walden University
    - Argosy University
    - Colorado Technical Institute
    - University of Phoenix

    ... and others ...

ALL RA schools do not look at program you enter into as a "contract" that is fixed! Colorado State has changed the requirements on me three times in the last four years. And, as of April 2009, just added an aditional course that MUST be taken, and is only ofered every other year in the summer.

Yep course starts next week! Surprize, suprize, suprize!

(oh, also the course fees doubled this year due to budget cuts! but not the tuition!)
