I graduate in the summer with my Master's in Counseling, and would like to start a Ph.D Psychology (Counseling or General) program. All the traditional schools I have looked at in my area (Texas) require I stop working and just attend school full-time during the day, which is not an option for me. So, I have been looking at online Universities and have narrowed my choices down to NorthCentral University and Walden. I like the classroom structure of NCU, but like that Walden offers residencies. Does anyone have any information on the two schools? Also, I was looking for someone to do a program with. We don't HAVE to take all the same courses at the same time, but I like the idea of having someone to talk to about classes, good/bad moments, and dissertation topics. It makes it seem easier and go by faster to me. Then at the end, it's nice to graduate with someone you know. So, if anyone knows someone who would be interested in starting our own "co-hort" at one of the above schools then let me know.

Walden has been around longer than NCU and so probably has a bit better name recognition. It's also more expensive. I think that most of the comments regarding NCU on this board have been positive. You should be careful to check into the licensing laws in the state where you live as neither school is APA accredited. This means something important in some places but not others.
