I am looking for SPED certificates in areas such as autism, asbergers, etc. Just wondering whats out there that I might have missed. Thanks!
What have you already found? Just in case, here's one, http://www.umassonline.net/degrees/Online-Certificate-Autism.cfm
Thanks Kizmet! I had a look at that one and gmail tasked it for future consideration. I'm looking for both niche areas of special education disorders as well as gifted and talented programs. Nebraska Kearney has a GAT program but the website appears to be down. In Tennessee I need 15 graduate hours to teach gifted and talented. I meant to include the GAT in my original message. Jackpot for the Gifted and talented search: Listing of GAT programs
From the Great State of Kentucky The University of Louisville www.louisville.edu used to have an online MEd in Autism. I can no longer find it, but the University of Louisville is home to the Kentucky Autism Training Center. Western Kentucky University www.wku.edu has an online Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders that can be applied toward their online MA in Exceptional Education. That's all, Folks!
Show Me! The University of Missouri www.mudirect.missouri.edu offers an online MEd in Autism Education.
The Keystone! California University of Pennsylvania www.cup.edu offers a Graduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders. Pennsylvania State University www.worldcampus.psu.edu offers an advanced Certificate in Autism online.
The Empire! Sage Graduate School www.sage.edu offers an MS in Applied Behavioral Studies and Autism online.
The Sunshine! The University of Central Florida www.ucf.edu offers an online Graduate Certificate in Autism.
Since this forum is often used by many teachers, it would be useful to expand this to all special education certificates. Here's one for initial licensure http://fasttrain.gmu.edu/programs_of_study/special_education/ Penn state has several Special Ed Supervision http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/SpledSupervisoryCertificate.shtml Behavior Analysis http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/AppliedBehaviorAnalysis.shtml Reading for Special Ed http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/Rise.shtml Autism http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/Autism.shtml Hofstra has a gifted program http://www.hofstra.edu/Academics/Colleges/SOEAHS/CRSR/crsr_dl.html Hannibel LaGrange had an early childhood special education program http://www.hlg.edu/academics/hlgonlineintro.php The University of Georgia also has some options http://www.usg.edu/academics/programs/distance_ed/online_ed.phtml These are certainly the beginning as there are many other programs out there.
