Hello again, I'm enrolled in Jones International MBA program . I may be able to speed up my MBA voyage by transferring credits to American Intercontinental. Input appreciated. Thanks. amanda jane

It is regionally accredited (SACS). The university has a brick-and-mortar campus in Atlanta, as well as other satellite campuses in Fort Lauderdale (FL), LA, and London. Overall, its reputation is not bad.

Thanks for the input. If any members have completed the 8 month MBA program please comment on this forum. Some credits may be transferred so I'll see what happens. It seems to be the speediest MBA with the exception of HW. Amanda Jane

  5. 8 month program? I thought their MBA required 40 credits, which could in principle be done in one academic year I suppose.

Thanks for the reply. The advertisement on the web page states bachelor's in IT 13 months, a masters in IT 12 months or a MBA in 8 months. If this is not a REAL program PLEASE let me know. Thanks. Amanda Jane

  7. I didn't see the ad, but I just looked at the web site, which states that the MBA requires 60 quarter credits (equivalent to 40 semester credits). So presumably you could do it from scratch in 3 quarters by taking 6 or 7 courses per quarter. Even if you transfer in some credits, it's likely to need fairly intense full-time study to complete in 8 months.

Interestingly enough AIU Online's web site is one of the worst I have seen. It gives almost no information about the program. Basicly just an application form and an email address for "additional questions. Their regular on campus web site look nice though.

    Hi friends.

Is that the one you´re talking about?:
    http://www.aiu-online.com/

I don´t think the website is bad; I´ve seen many, many worse University websites so far.

American InterContinental University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools

(that means they´re regionally accredited, right?)

I think it sounds interesting - I´d also like to hear more about their MBA program.

    Best greetings from Germany,

    Trigger

Thanks for input and interest. Everything seems OK with this school. Before I send a check I would appreciate some other opinions.
I am 22 with my first REAL job. Tuition reimbursment from my company will not kick in until May. I can't spend any time or money unless this situation is the real deal.I graduated from TESC in March 2001. I am attempting to contact a student involved in the program to get some insight.

  11. AIU opened their online campus in 1999, so it won't be easy to get feedback from graduates of the online MBA. But in any case, before you send a check, make sure you get a copy of their full catalog (available in electronic form) and speak to an admissions counselor (877-701-3800).

IMHO, an AIU degree will be better received than one from Jones International because AIU has been around (and been accredited) much longer than JIU, and is a larger and more traditional institution.

    Hi Trigger

I should have been more specific. I like the intro page but when you get to the detail links they are simplistic and lacking basic information. What is the cost per credit hour? How many classes are needed to graduate? How many coarses? Which coarses? With a generic title like "IT" what is the emphasis? How are classes taught? Are any of faculty of renown? It looks like a good RA program although "Intercontinental" makes me hesitate. I'll email for the catalog but why not either list the info or link the catalog? Many thanks.

    That is true, Dave,
there is definetely a lack of information on this site.
I left my contact infos, maybe I´ll get some information by mail - if so, I´m going to post it here.

    Greets,

    Hi Trigger

Thanks for the link to the catalog. It has answered most of my questions. I have emailed AIU as their site suggests but have not heard back. Again thanks!

    Hi!

I am two classes shy of my masters at AIU's Dunwoody campus. (Which was the school's international headquarters until recently.)

I'm VERY familiar with the programs that they offer and would be happy to answer any questions that you have.

    @ EllisZ:

for example: is it really possible to get an MBA in only 8 (!) months?

what would be the workload for this?

    greets,

    trigger

    Hi Ellis

Thanks for the offer. I have emailed AIU but haven't heard back yet. What is the cost for undergraduate vs graduate credit? It might be difficult but how would you compare the Excelsior BS CIS vs. AIU BS IT? Overall what has your impression of AIU been? Many thanks.
