    hey everybody

first time poster, long time lurker

I live in Canada and I got a 3-year BA degree from York University (B&M school). I browsed through this site for 2 years out of curiosity but recently, I am pretty serious in my browsing because I'm seriously thinking of pursuing an MBA in the future but I don't want to attend a B&M school.

I looked at Imperial College and their requirement is "Requires good first degree...." but what does "good first degree" mean? does that mean they'll accept a 3-year degree?

Also, for University of Warwick, they said that you need an honors degree (4 years), 3 years post-undergrad managerial experience and a "balanced" GMAT score but they said that they'll even consider peopel who don't meet the academic criteria. How often does this school or any other school that requires a 4 year degree, accept a 3 year degree holder who compensates for it by doing well on the GMAT and have the relevent job experience?

Are there any other reputable DL schools that offer MBA programs but allow 3-year degree holders?

    Thanks.

Not very often, which is not to say it doesn't happen. There is a quote that's relevant to your situation:

You have to be an exceptional candidate to get a school to waive their admissions requirements. It certainly happens, but I wouldn't depend on it happening. However, you could probably transfer your credits to one of the big three, do 30 units of upper division exams, and "upgrade" your three-year degree to a four-year fairly quickly and cheaply.

There are MBA programs that will accept holders of three-year bachelor's programs if they have completed a post-graduate diploma program. The Univeristy of London offers several of these programs via DL, however, they would be more expensive than the "upgrade" plan above.

    Best of luck!

I would recommend checking out the MBA program offered by Edinburgh Business School (part of Heriot Watt University in the UK). This program is self paced, meaning you pay for and receive the course materials, study until you feel comfortable with the materials and when ready, sit for the exams. While this school holds a royal charter, the MBA program does not have any admission requirements. Actually, they do, but you can bypass the requirements and matriculate by passing 3 courses. Thus, you may gain entry with a 3-year degree (or no degree at all, for that matter).

    Good Luck!

You might want to consider Blekinge Institute of Technology and their online Master of Business Administration degree.

Blekinge Institute of Technology is part of the Swedish university system. All academic education at Swedish universities, including this program, is today free of tuition fees. All costs related to the student’s personal expenses, such as course material, travel, Internet costs etc. have to be covered by the student.

Most Australian schools would consider a 3 year degree for MBA admissions as most of the Bachelor programs in Australia are 3 year programs.

Many non-American B.A. programs are three years. A German B.A. is always three years, simply because German kids start pursuing their majors right away (all general education courses are completed in high school). I have never heard of a US institution rejecting a foreign B.A. holder because it was not four years.

Several years ago I contacted the admissions supervisor at Liberty University to ask if a 3-year BA from Briercrest would meet admission requirements for Liberty's MBA. I was told "absolutely yes." You may want to contact Liberty to see if this is still the case.
