Sucks to earn a degree at a private college in Montana and move to Oregon ....
    (From Oregon's "hit-list" ... http://www.osac.state.or.us/oda/unaccredited.html)

WARNING REGARDING MONTANA DEGREES: Degrees from any *private* college based in the State of Montana should be considered invalid for use in Oregon unless the college can prove that it is accredited by a federally-recognized accrediting body. A list of such accreditors can be found at: www.ed.gov/offices/OPE/accreditation/index.html

(Then again only like 1000 people live in Montana so this probably isn't a big issue anyway. <GRIN> )

Or a private college that isn't accredited by a US Dept of Education recognized accreditor, at any rate.

That's always been Oregon's policy, applicable to every state. What's interesting here is the ODA's singling out Montana for a specific warning. That suggests that Mr. Contreras' office believes that there are schools in Montana that are making claims that could be confusing to Oregonians.

Three guesses which school he is probably thinking of.... (hint:"Malawi")
