Anyone know why Harcourt Learning Direct changed its name to Education Direct? The name change is also noted on the DETC website. The new advertisements in magazines mentions the new name as "Thomson Education Direct."
A wild guess would be that Harcourt sold the operation to Thomson (unless Harcourt is already owned by Thomson; I can never keep track of these multinationals.) The last I heard, Harcourt was shutting the whole thing down, which is a blessing... apparently their educational quality was abysmally bad, and the rumor was that DETC wasn't terribly interested in doing anything about it because Harcourt contributed so much in accreditation fees to DETC's coffers. If Thomson plans to continue in the same rich tradition as ICS and Harcourt Learning Direct, then that's a very sad thing. Hopefully, they'll remake it into something of quality.
