    Hello all:

The Clovis Community College Summer Schedule is now available:

    http://www.clovis.edu/downloads/Summer2009Schedule.pdf

One of the best deals in higher education - out of state students can enroll for up to 7 credits for $225 total:

    $116 - tuition
    $100 - online course fees ($50/course)
    $9 - technology fee

My two oldest homeschooled children have completed 14 credits through CCC (and are enrolled in 7 credits this term). Great customer service and responsive to questions.

Funny, I was just writing about Clovis this morning. I've been in dialogue with one of the community colleges in Florida (soon to be a state college) asking them why they can't offer the same tuition to DL's as they do residents. I guess state laws guide the policies.

The college is a great deal for FLORIDA residents and they offer a lot of the social science courses my son was interested in. Like Clovis their customer service is great, and so far no proctors are required. They also have classes starting and stopping at different times which makes it much easier to pick up extra credits. After this semester my son has 13 credits left (7 this summer, 6 next fall) and will be graduating from TESC with his bachelors. Course he took his upper level classes at a different college.

Can you please tell me which courses taken from Clovis did not need exams/proctor?

    a mom,

A few years ago Florida State University offered in-state tuition for their online M.S. in Criminology program to all students regardless of location. I inquired into UCF's M.S. in Criminal Justice program at around the same time and was told that UCF did not offer that same type of tuition deal for out-of-state distance learning students. For some reason FSU does not offer that tuition deal anymore either.

If you go to the following link:

    http://www.clovis.edu/ecampus/index.htm

you can review old syllabi from the DL courses.

Maybe the state laws changed. What a shame...

Does Clovis CC use credit hours or is it quarter hours?
    Thanks.

Clovis is really value for money.

However, the online courses are not open to international students as you need a Social Security Number (SSN) to apply >_<

So consider yourself lucky if you are a US resident.

    Have a nice weekend :)

They are credit hours Nana, I'm a student there and I like it so far.

Thanks (with regard to hours). Another question: If an application for admission is sent to CCC by online or fax, do they contact you relatively fast and give you a log-in to register for classes?

To clarify I assume you mean semester hours.

    1 quarter unit = 2/3 semester unit.

Both types of units are normally transferable between colleges and universities.

Clovis CC was very efficient. I am already registered for the Biology class that starts on June 1. The book from bookstore will be here on June 2. The total cost of class, plus my book was $275.00. If I could have found the book used, it would have been so much cheaper! I don't believe in "luck", but I'm wishing for some as I take this class this summer session.
