Does anyone know about this college. The link is here http://www.rio.maricopa.edu

I did not see it on the list of 100 schools on this site. It has an online teacher certification program. Any info appreciated. Thanks!

A good, regionally accredited community college. You can read more about it here:

Thanks! I am wondering though if there are not some on campus requirements for this program. After receiving an email from advisement saying there were no residency requirements I phoned them to discuss registering for a course. The girl on the phone told me that I would be required to come to the school to take a final exam for every course I was in and also I would have to do all my practicums there as well. This was dissapointing after it had billed itself as a program entirely through distance learning? Could it be the advisor on the phone was misinformed?

    Holly,

I am a former adjunct faculty/counselor with Rio Salado. They have been in the distance learning business much longer than most and really do have a good handle on their courses.

If you live outside the Phoenix area, you can arrange to have your test proctored in your local area. They do it all the time and have testing personnel to help you with the process. If you are looking to do some 100-200 level undergraduate courses, Rio Salado is a good choice.
