If you try the concept in another school (TESC for example) you run into the issue of not using the GRE subject test- that's a road block. You have to take an additional 6 exams +/- to make up for that. While I couldn't test out of classes at that pace, I accept that it can be done. I "only" tested out of my gen eds, but it cut my entire degree time down to 18 months instead of 4 (or 5.6) years.
