Hello, I am looking for some advice on my objectives.

    I currently have
    -B.A. (Secondary Education) Maj:History Minor: Communication/Theater (SVSU)
I can teach History, Speech, Social Studies, Econ, etc
    -Social Studies Endorsement (SVSU)
-CPS-C Prevention Certificate from State of Michigan (did online)

As there are limited or no jobs for teachers (my field of study) in Bay County Michigan or very limited in Michigan at all, I am looking to add to my education. I am stuck in Michigan as my wife has a small business. A career/counselor told me I should look at a Master of Social Work Degree. He discussed this with me and said it fit my current background (resume). I am a Unit Director for a Boys and Girls Club and also have 15 years previous experience as a manager in retail/advertising. At this point in my life (44yrs old) I am looking to make more money (35,000+).

I am currently looking at an online/hybrid MSW from Michigan State University. There are a couple others North Dakota and Texas State but this seems the logical choice, I assume? I don't know much about the Capellas and Walden online stuff, my guess is any job is going to someone with the better school on the degree?

I am still not 100% what direction to head. Is the MSW a good choice? Are there a lot of jobs out there for this degree? Any input would be helpful. BTW I am already 21,000 in debt to dept of ed.

    Cheers

What's wrong with these schools? University of Wyoming offers MSW outreach, but not sure about online. The Utah State University and Colorado State University also offer MSW online as well.

Well, these schools are expensive and you already had $21K in student loan

What is your career goal? What do you want to do? Government Social Worker, or School Counselor?

Not sure about the field, it seems only around low income region (no offense anybody). Where people need the Government assistance; therefore, the Government needs more Social Workers.

If you want to make more money ($35,000+), then you should move out of where you're currently living in. That is my comment, and don't mean to offense you. I only move to the place where it is easy for me to find the job.
