So, I've decided to pursue a BS in Behavioral Science with Bellevue University. My first class starts tomorrow. I am excited and a bit nervous. My nervousness is due to the fact that I will be completing 36 credits (my major) in just 10 months! If all goes well, by this time next year I should be finished with all of the degree requirements. Caffeine will definitely be my friend for the foreseeable future.

Best of luck! Just be careful not to burn yourself out and have your grades suffer.

    Thanks!

Good advice. I certainly will need to pace myself. In addition to attending school full-time, I also work full-time, I have two kids and I'm getting married at the end of May!

Congratulations! I am nearing the end of my BA in leadership will Bellevue, which is offered in the same accelerated format. I am on the 10th class of 12 and can offer you the following advice:

    1) NEVER fall behind. The courses move fast so catching up can be difficult.

    2) NEVER miss an assignment. These are 4-week courses, so each assignment carries a tremendous amount of weight toward your grade. It's not like missing an assignment in a traditional 16-week term.

    3) As with any school, some courses will be slower than others. When you find yourself in one of those courses, it will be tempting to take it easy and catch your breath.. DON'T. Use the "free time" to work on your Capstone project, which is a requirement for all degree offerings. Even if you are just adding to your outline, writing down some thoughts that you might want to include, reading through some of the references material...do it. Otherwise you will find yourself at the end of the program, scrambling to pull together a 25-page paper from references you haven't read and creating an extensive Power Point presentation from a paper that you haven't written.

    4) Take a little time to enjoy it. Though the courses do move quickly, I have found most of mine to be very enjoyable. When possible, choose real life experiences as topics for your papers. I have found that the lessons from the text "come to life" if you constantly apply them to your own experiences.

    You'll do great! Good luck!

    Pug,

Thanks for the advice. Regarding your 2nd comment - in my case, I have eight, 4 credit courses and two, 2 credit courses. The 4 credit courses run for 5 weeks and the two credit courses run for 10 weeks (overlapping with other courses). The schedule is certainly no joke. I have taken accelerated courses previously (with National University), so I think I know what to expect. However, I think I will take your advice and begin working on my capstone project early in the program.

    Thanks,

Congrats, as the saying goes, "the longest journey starts with the first step!" You can't finish until you start! You are on your way!

My only advice, reward yourself along the way!

Again, congrats and I want to hear more as you continue!
