This question is related to the one I did last week (about BA in communication in Top Schools).

I was wondering - what would be the CHEAPEST one? Not NA, but RA.

So far, it seems the BA Communication and Culture is the best deal. As this would be my second BA, I would only have to take the 30 credits of the Major. I could do that in two semester, for a total of U$4000.

    Anyone have other suggestions?

Thomas Edison State College, Charter Oak and Excelsior all have Communications programs, and since you only need 30 credits that will save you quite a bit of money. Charter Oak or Excelsior will probably be cheaper options than TESC.

I know you said RA, but Andrew Jackson University has no tuition at all if you go with the sponsored tuition option. You just pay a $400 fee each semester. I had to mention it, since that is the program I am taking with AJU. Gotta be true to my school!

I think the Big 3 would be more expensive in the end, because I can't really test out the Communication classes.

By the way, I forgot to note that the BA in Communication and Culture that I have cited is from CUNY.

And yes, Andrew Jackson is a really good deal - but I don't want to have to explain the fact that the degree is not RA.

The fact that the degree is online is already a problem for some people...

The other schools that come to mind that have undergrad Communications programs are Kaplan University, Bellevue University, and University of Phoenix. Of course, they would not be the cheapest.

It sounds to me like you have already found your best option.

In your other post you mentioned an emphasis in media. Most of the online communication degrees seem to focus on communication skills, business communication. I started off at UMUC but found their communication studies classes to be of no interest to me. I work for a media company and wanted something more related to my field. I then discovered cityu.edu and transferred. I have really been enjoying my classes there so far and the core classes that I have ahead of me look very interesting. SUNY Oswego has a similar program.

I do not know about cheap or prestige though. If I went to a more prestigious or cheaper school and was in a program that I held little interest in, I do not think I would ever finish my degree.

The advantage of the big three is that you can take courses at any RA university/college thats meets your degree plan and cost limits then transfer them to one of the big three schools.

You are right - most of the online communications degrees are not really focused in media, and that's too bad.

Ideally I'd enroll in something like a multimedia communications program.

For example, the Cuny program seems very good, but I'm not sure if people will consider a "Communication and Culture" degree as the same as a "Communications" degree.

Actually, my university, Academy of Art University (where I'm taking my MFA in Motion Pictures and TV, on compus) does have such program online (multimedia communications), but it's too expensive - no way I can pay another degree here.

(Although I would if I could - the school is very good)

For the price of two classes in the Academy of Art I can pay the whole Communication and Culture major at Cuny.

The problem is that I want this second BA degree just in case if I have to go back to my country. In terms of USA I'm already doing a Master (on campus) and I plan to do another online - a second BA doesn't have much weight in the USA, so it's always better to go for a higher degree.

But in my country it does - for some reason people in Brazil put too much value in your undergrad (and you could never do a Master in a different field than your undergrad)

But in Brazil a degree from a non-traditional college such a Excelsior would be difficult to explain. That's why I want a DL degree from a traditional (if possible) and B&M school.
