    Hello - new to this type of forum - so please forgive any errors. Does anyone know anything about The Eisner Institute of Professional Studies? I have been all over the internet seeking information about their accreditation - but haven't found anything. Their website indicates they are accredited by the Bureau of Private, Post-Secondary and Vocational Eduation - but I can't find them. I know they are still relatively new (2 years in operation) and it can take several years for accreditation to kick in. Any information would be welcome. Thanks.

    I tried to find out about them a couple of years ago with little results. The best I could come up with is that they are unaccredited, may be legitimate, and the degrees may not be widely recognised. They have been around for a few years so there should be something either way.

    I could not find any mention of the Institute on the Oregon website concerning unaccredited degrees;
    http://www.osac.state.or.us/oda/unaccredited.aspx
    The site does not recognise them as legitimate or as a degree mill.

    Others on this website are considerably better at this than me, but I would think that when it is a sizeable investment, if you cannot find anything out, then don't do it. It may go either way, but why risk your money finding out?

    The approval agency the list was a creature of a Californian Statute and now does not exist. They were most likely approved under that agency at one time. As I understand it, approval by this agency was not accreditation. It now appears to have a voluntary agreement with the California Bureau of Consumer Affairs. What this actually means I do not know. An email to the California Bureau of Consumer affairs inquiring about the Institute may be helpful.

    If you choose to do so, it would interesting to hear the answer.

    The Eisner Institute for Professional Studies www.eisnerinstitute.org is not an accredited institution. To say that they are approved by the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education is to say that they are operating legally, i.e., they have state approval from California. The reason you cannot find the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education is that the idiots in the California legislature allowed this state agency to go out of existence pursuant to the sunset laws and the best they (the legislature) have been able to do is to pass a new law "freezing" all California state approvals for institutions of higher education as they were as of the day the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education went out of existence. While I don't have the expertise necessary to comment on the quality of their programs or the likelihood of their gaining accreditation, I would note that their MA in Psychology with concentration in Marriage & Family Therapy does qualify one to sit for the state licensure exam in marriage & family therapy.
