Hi everyone, I am about to enroll in an online MBA programme but quite confused wht to do.My bachelor degree is also an online one ,I need to move to Canada in one or two years .I m planning to continue my education from a canadian university in future for a phd in business. So my concern s I want to join only tht school for an online MBA ,whose degree or credits (in case if i ve to transfer to a canadian school b4 completing my MBA) are accepted for taking admission in Phd.
I ve written University of Calgary but they ve replied tht they dnt accept online degrees for admission in their MBA thesis and Phd programme.I m writing to some other universities as well but I would be pleased if someone could recommend me a renowned or atleast accredited B&M university in Canada which accepts online degrees for admission in their Phd programme or even MBA.thanks.

    DL in Canada

Where will you be likely moving to? (City or at least province). You mentioned University of Calgary, would you thinking of that city already? This link has a list of all accredited universities in Canada that are part of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. You could write to those listed under the province of your choice. The University of Calgary may not accept DL degrees from outside the region perhaps, because Athabasca University is in Alberta and is widely accepted. http://www.aucc.ca/can_uni/our_universities/index_e.html

The other way is to go to Canadian Virtual University and look for the subject area and level you are interested in and see what university is offering the programme. Since all universities within CVU are also members of AUCC they would accept each other's credits.
http://www.cvu-uvc.ca CVU is not a university by a grouping of B&M universities that offer courses and programmes through DL across the country in English and French.

Athabasca University has on-line MBA, DBA and Ed.D. programs:

Maybe this is an option for your MBA and doctoral degrees.

All I can is "Good Luck!" I remember the chair at an Ontario college told me he denied transfer credits from a school because it wasn't a state school. His idea: didnt say "state" in the title...for the record it was a Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools RA school.

I would start contacting a few schools with feelers...see how the respond.

See my experiences are on the other side...I teach in Canada, live here, educated here.

    Somethings are really wonky...

Accountants: most need a masters in the US to get a CPA...in canada you only need a degree. So those that come up here with an MAcc of MBA Acct did seem somewhat watered down but our standards are dropping

Teachers: same deal, in Canada you do a B.Ed to teach...in the US its an M.Ed. One place I worked took US M.Eds and told them to get a Canadian M.Ed they had to do more study. Yes we took Ph.Ds or Ed.Ds at par?

Really comes down to the school. Like I said, plan your route and write some emails out as Feelers.
