Hi Discussion board members, I'm an American currently living in Monterrey Mexico. I'm currently looking for different MBA programs. In Monterrey, I'm looking at EGADE (ITESM) that has a residential MBA program that is AACSB accredited but I'm also looking at Northcentral that has an online MBA program. The price of the EGADE's MBA is about 40K USD but I will be getting financial assistance from my employer of about 50% of the cost. The other option is to follow an online program from NorthCentral but my employer wouldn't be able to provide financial support for online programs from the US. Although the Mexican program is accredited in the US, I'm concerned that when I return to the US the program might not be recognized by potential employers. For this reason, I think that perhaps the NCU program might have more utility in the US than a Mexican MBA. Any comments that could help in my decision would be appreciated. Señor Diaz: Bienvenido, I would said to take the Mexican MBA: 1) Your getting help from your employer 2) AACSB, according to some is the "gold" standards for business accreditation goes. 3) You should have no problem getting accepted for work purposes and perhaps for some adjunct gigs. 4) La educación en paises latino-americanos es más estructurada que en los U.S. Buena suerte, más comentarios will follow!
On this board we've talked to people who are involved in US programs, Canadian programs, programs in South America, England, Wales, the Netherlands, other parts of Europe, South Africa, Malaysia on and on and on. Why not Mexico?
As far as I remember when I was a Tec student, one of their MBA versions was offered with a double degree option.. If I am not wrong University of Texas at Austin.. take a look at that and good luck.. Tec de Monterrey is a great great school and dont forget to go to El Arbolito and El Callejon del Colera
If it's AACSB I'd do that, no question, especialy with the employer tuition. Many European and/or foreign schools have AACSB so that is a good sign of quality in non-US business schools (not that a non-AACSB school is neccesarily bad - it depends). Are you referring to Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey? I have a friend/co-worker who got a joint MBA/MA from U San Diego and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. I'm not sure if that 2-year joint program is still active or not. Yes, this is the graduate school of business (EGADE) of the Instituto tecnologico y de estudios superiores de monterrey. The school has a very good reputation in Monterrey but I've never heard of this school before coming here so I wasn't too sure about its utility in the US.
