The M.S. in Computer Engineering at Southern Methodist University requires the GRE for admittance. If I already have a masters degree (in a related field even), is there a chance this requirement can be waived?

Yes. Some schools will waive the GRE for applicants that already have a grad degree. Just ask them.

Not sure for the answer, just contact them. My program doesn't require GRE or GMAT.

Cool. I'll just ask. Though, I was kind of hoping somebody here would know off the top of their head, lol.

It would make sense that the GRE could be waived if you already have a grad degree if the GRE is supposed to be an indication of how well a student will do in grad school.

While more and more schools seem to realize that the GRE is a highly unreliable poor measurement tool and get rid of it, some schools are more conservative than others. Oregon, for instance, never waives the GRE requirement. Florida says, theoretically yes if the student already has done grad work, but we usually don't do it. Penn State doesn't require it for international students and Columbia University dropped it entirely.
