Today I received a letter from WNMU informing me that I had been conditionally accepted into their MAIS program. (Not bad considering I had already started classes, haha.) I was only conditionally accepted because I did not send them a transcript from UoP. I transferred 3 credits from UoP to Walden when I was working on my MS. Apparently they saw that on the Walden transcript and figured they needed the UoP transcript to prove I actually took the class or whatever. I didn't think that was a big deal, but really didn't want to spend the $7 to send a transcript. That's when I got a little surprise. When I was filling out the form on the UoP website, I saw that they don't charge for transcripts anymore. Wow! My undergraduate school, Christopher Newport University, doesn't charge for transcripts, and neither does Walden. I was rather surprised that UoP isn't charging now. That will definitely help later on. Any ideas as to why they decided to stop? Are they trying to compete with schools like Walden who don't charge? -Matt
Gee, my schools still do. North Carolina Wesleyan College ( my undergraduate alma mater and in your conference....lol) charges 5 dollars a transcript. My graduate alma mater ( North Carolina Central University) charges 2 dollars a transcript.
The transcript fee is a small token, where they get you is with the tuition and other enrollment fees. So, by eliminating does not make UOP less expensive. But it sure helps. There are other universities that charge $10 a pop.
I agree. In Cali, transcripts are $3.00 a piece at a CC. In most Universities, it ranges from about $7-$10.00 a piece. I always keep several copies of all my transcripts, not cheap since I have so many, but I like having one opened copy for myself, and a few sealed transcripts just in case something comes up. Abner
Same here. When I graduated from CNU, I loaded up on transcripts. After all, I was done. It's not like the transcript was going to change. That way if they ever did start charging, I'd have the advantage. Fortunately, however, they haven't. -Matt
