Last friday the First Circuit Court of the State of Hawaii granted a request by the Office of Consumer Protection to enter a default judgment against Anglo American University, Inc. and its vice-president Alberto Noriega. The court prohibited both of them from issuing diplomas or accepting valuable consideration therefor. The court also ordered them to provide restitution to any consumer requesting it within twenty days. Finally the court imposed a civil penalty of $365,000.00. Thank you, Mr. Brunton, for your involvement in facilitating the closure of some of these "institutions." No doubt many of them will relocate and begin to do business somewhere else. But this is indeed a step in the right direction. Keep up the good work! Russell A. Morris
Thanks for posting these updates. DL schools, of course, do much of their business outside the state or nation where they claim residence. It helps all of us who are interested in DL to have such information posted on international forums. Tom

The judgment bans the defendants from issuing diplomas and accepting consideration therefor. It also imposes civil penalties of $365,000 against each of the defendants. The Hawaii mail-forwarding service used by Anglo American has been terminated. Since this business was actually operated from Los Angeles, the California authorities have been notified.
