The #1 online university on my list right now is Kaplan University. One reason is that they actually have campuses in Florida which is where I live. Has anyone here received there degree from them. If so, how would you rate them?

No experience, but seems to be poor in quality. Why's not University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida Institute of Technology, Nova Southeastern University, Troy University, University of West Florida, and etc?

What leads you to such a statement? That seems pretty bold when you do not have any experience. What makes it seem to be poor quality?

There are a lot of schools with a Florida campus. Where do you live and what degree are you looking at?

Well since the OP has not responded to questions above, it was the best thing I could quickly find at 4:00am in the morning, since I had to feed my little one. Also, I wanted to quickly rejoin the love of my life and get some darn sleep. There is life beyond degreeinfo. I would hope that the OP is smart and objective enough to filter the crap that people post in that website among other decent reviews.

I do not know much about Kaplan, but I thought their commercial was awesome...by far the most effective DL commercial that I have seen...

For what it is worth, I work with someone that graduated from Kaplan with an AA in Business about 6 or 7 months. I believe his GPA was 3.7 or 3.8. His grammar and punctuation are so poor that I cringe when I receive an an email from him. His letters and memos are so poor that we've had tenants (we run a property management firm) return the letters to the corporate office marked and corrected in red ink, as a school teacher would do. It makes me wonder how in the world Kaplan allowed him to pass english comp I and II, let alone with A's.

I also know someone that is currently enrolled in Kaplan's BA/Business program. I think this individual is quite smart and I respect her opinion a great a deal. She loves Kaplan, but she has admitted that the online tests are a bit of a joke.

That is a cool commercial. James Avery (Uncle Phil) appears to have lost a lot of weight.

As for Kaplan, I have never attended there so I do not have an opinion on the school. However, there are plenty of distance learning options that are less expensive. I encourage you to explore other options because of the cost.

    My thoughts about Kaplan University

I received my BSIT degree from Kaplan University in 2006. I started out with Kaplan in 2003 , so I spent quite a bit of time at the school. Before attending Kaplan, I attended a couple of B&M schools. Among these schools was the University of Florida where I attended for about a year and a half as an out of state student (so it was expensive).

My experience with Kaplan was overwhelmingly positive. Having experienced regular B&M schools in all their glory with their good sides and bad sides, I came to Kaplan with realistic expectations. The quality of the education was on par with anything I had at my other schools, the class plans, degree plans, and course materials were of good quality.

I liked the interaction that the online seminars provided, professors were available and actually answered questions and held regular "office hours" in AIM. The academic advisors were a mixed bag, I went through a couple during my degree plan and didn't really get much from them; however, the same can be said of my advisors at the B&M schools.

The professors I had were excellent. They had good knowledge and preparation in their fields and ran an interesting class. I think the grading was fair, maybe a bit more lenient than in the other B&M schools I attended. I graduated with a 3.57 GPA.

Since I graduated from Kaplan, I have more than doubled my income and have completed a MS degree in a well respected B&M state school (attended by commuting, traditional in-classroom) with a 4.0 GPA. I found that the Kaplan experience actually very much resembled graduate school and prepared me very well for success as a graduate student. In many instances, I referred back to assignments and texts I used at Kaplan to complete graduate school work, since some of the technical classes were actually more advanced at Kaplan than at grad school.

Would I recommend Kaplan? Even though I got what I wanted and more, I'd have to think about a recommendation. Back when I joined, they were the best option I found as far as flexibility and quality. However, they are expensive and there's just so many options today that I hesitate to just recommend Kaplan without having at least explored all of the new options that have opened up.

Subpar graduates and students are not exclusive to Kaplan. I met many morons at UF and at the other B&M schools that I attended. Even saw a few of these morons go on to graduate school and be successful. I wouldn't make anything out of such anecdotal evidence. Education is what the individual makes of it, schools aren't factories that put out uniform "products".

Just some thoughts from an alum, hope this is helpful.

I couldn't agree more, but this individual isn't a moron, he just can't write at a college level. He can't even write at a HS level. I just don't know how someone passes english comp I and II without being able to write.
