SPECIFIC EXAM FEEDBACK: Post your input here if you would like to see a new sub-forum.

I am all for it, and I would contribute on a regular basis. There would be a separate thread for each exam within a new Specific Exam Feedback sub-forum. For example:

    English Literature CLEP Thread

    • 95 questions in 90 minutes
    • 40% knowledge of English literature, authors, and terms
    • 60% analyzing and interpreting literature

..isn't that already covered in depth at degreeforum?

Degreeforum.net locked the forum and is requiring a membership to view the specific exam feedback. They took the content that users created for free and are now charging to view it. I am trying to get degreeinfo.com to launch a sub-forum for specific exam feedback.

I know that I may be missing something but I just paid a visit to degreeforum.net (where I am not registered) and I was able to access a variety of random threads in all four forums. As far as I could tell there was no restriction to information. Would you please be more specific about what you were not allowed to view? Which forum? Which thread?

OK. I see it now. How much do they charge?

$20 per month for access to the InstantCert flashcards. The $20 per month now includes access to user created threads that discuss what is on the exams (in general, NOT braindumps) and how they prepared for them (titles of study materials and links to online study resources).

That's "kind of" what TURNITIN.COM does with EVERYONE'S papers they scan..

They don't earn it, they Steal it then re-sell it.

It does sound like a good idea to have an exam-specific sub-forum (I'm assuming you mean a sub-forum to discuss CLEP, DANTES, TECEP, ECE, etc.). While the point has been raised that degreeforum already does this, I would ask: Why the hell abandon that market entirely to a competitor?

It's a good idea, even so I somewhat have the impression that around here on degreeinfo.com the discussion is mostly oriented around grad schools or even doctorates.

I almost forgot to mention my support in my first post above. Yes that is a great idea. That would really help out lots of folks here.

    Take care

The value of information at DegreeInfo is not just in it's presence in the forum, but in it's ability to be recalled quickly from within the structure of the forum. Having a forum with these exams organized in a more structured environment would make it easier to find information and reduce the starting of new threads by those who cannot locate a previously asked and answered question.

EXACTLY! If degreeinfo.com starts the sub-forum, it is essential that there be ONLY ONE thread per exam within the sub-forum. If they allow it, I will work hard on the sub-forum and do my part to insure its success.

And I will add, since a competitor has now made the step of making people pay to access this information - I believe that a specific subforum for CLEP, DSST, etc., is a good idea.

..after visiting the site and reading more posts, I do have to say that I agree - let's have a sub-forum devoted to CLEP/DSST/ECE exams. There are plenty of us who have taken these and will be taking more (I will be tacking Ethics in America, Here's to your Health, and a few others this year) - it can only complement this site.

Thank you for all of the support. Hopefully, degreeinfo.com hears our voice and begins the new forum. If they do not, and I will respect their decision, then I will begin a new, free forum that specializes in specific exam feedback for CLEP, DSST, GRE, and other exams.

Keep the comments coming. I have confidence that the mods here will listen to us.

I am so very bummed that they are now charging $ for that info. Wow.
I use and contribute to that forum extensively for years, but the flash cards were never my thing....and paying twenty dollars a month is DEFINITELY not my thing. I say go for it.

If this degreeforum you are talking about is the same degreeforum that I used to belong to (probably back in 2006 - and, by the way, I can't seem to find any of my old posts there nor do I see my old username, heikstheo, on their member list), who cares? I seem to recall that once upon a time, when I was a new member at degreeforum, somebody commented about how quickly I had made my first 1000 posts at degreeinfo and somebody at degreeforum who seemed important (perhaps a mod) replied that I would likely not make 1000 posts anywhere nearly so quickly at degreeforum as they are a much smaller board. So, that tells me that degreeinfo's competitive advantage is our size. Besides, we can easily undercut them on price.
