Winter break just started! In the next two weeks, my goal is to go from 77 credits to 100.

    MY PLAN:

    (3) DSST Technical Writing (Monday)
    (6) CLEP English Literature (Next Monday)
    (6) CLEP Social Sciences and History (Next Wednesday)
    (8) FEMA

Sounds like a plan! If you're prepared for the exams it should be a reasonable goal. The 8 FEMA credits will take you a day or two.

Yes, it should take someone a full day or two of good hard study to actually review the course material for 8 courses and take the tests on their own. I was contacted earlier this month by someone through this discussion board and asked to sell them the answers to all course exams. The guy even gave me the sob story about how he was in the Army and needed the courses done in a hurry to get military points for promotion and retirement. It didn't happen. The FEMA credits should always be about doing the work to get the credit.

    ....how much did he offer?

LOL Just kidding. FEMA is open book, so you can simply print out your study guides and have them on hand as you complete the quiz. Certainly didn't require a level of difficulty worth paying for...but to each his own.

We never got around to a dollar figure. I just sent him an email outlining the problems that follow when an enlisted person asks an officer to help him cheat on exams. I reminded him that he was not living up to Army Values. I did some research and included some information in my email that showed I knew exactly who he was and where he was located.

While the FEMA Independent Study courses have open book exams, some think that means you do not have to read the course material, just do a computer word search for the answers or get them from someone else. When people avoid learning the material and doing their own work, they just cheat themselves.

I am about to go take the first exam of the winter break: DSST Technical Writing. It is in print format, so I will not get the results today, but I should be able to determine if I passed. CLEP English Literature and CLEP Social Sciences and History NEXT WEEK!

Or, you can just have the PDF study guides open on your computer while taking the quiz and use the PDF search function to help locate the relevant sections that contain the answers. Since the FEMA quizzes are open book, I do not consider this cheating. BTW, by selecting the Adobe search option (instead of the more limited "find" option, you can search across multiple PDF files located in a folder on your computer. So, you can place all of the relevant files for each FEMA course in a separate folder. When you're ready to take the quiz, just search the files in the appropriate folder. Big time saver. Of course, I still recommend reading through the study guides before taking the quiz, since a) you might actually learn something and b) it will be much easier to take a quiz on something that you actually know a thing or two about! :)

    Good Luck!

I just got back. The exam went well. It was paper format, so I will get the results in a couple of weeks. I am sure I passed. 80 total credits! 2/3 of the way there!

That plan is definitely doable if you've put in the study time already. Good luck!!

Sowak - Social Sciences and History is a pretty easy exam. That was the only one that I took that did not have IC flashcards. I just took the Peterson's practice exams. I got a 61 and I only studied for about 2 days. You should do fine...a nice 6 credits...good luck!
