Most engineering programs at the associate's level will be engineering technology.

Note that engineering and engineering technology are significantly different. If you get an online AS in engineering technology, you might be able to transfer into a BS program in engineering technology (especially if the AS is ABET accredited).

But an AS in engineering technology will not readily transfer into a traditional, ABET-accredited engineering BS program. Some B&M community colleges have "pre-engineering" AS degrees, which are designed to transfer into engineering programs. But it would likely be difficult to offer a real "pre-engineering" AS program online, because it involves a number of introductory science courses with lab requirements.

Not bad so far. When I graduated with my CIS Associate's degree and applied for jobs, I never got turned down for only having a NA (COE) degree. The main problem was that it wasn't a Bachelor's! It's hard to get a good IT job around here without a BS, unless you have exactly the right experience or certifications (or connections).

Last year I was actually hired by the school that gave me that degree (Appalachian Tech) for an IT networking job. That's where my connections paid off - my current boss is a former instructor of mine. Incidentally, the school is going to merge with two other state technical colleges to form the largest technical college in Georgia.

Anyway, I decided to branch out in to Electronics to expand my career potential. I'd recommend CIE for anyone looking into an Engineering Technology Associate's degree - quality courses, DETC accredited, Pell Grant available, and you can complete lessons as fast as you want. Also, all the AAS credits transfer into their subsidiary school (World College) for the Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering Technology.
