Upon reading this again, Cardean Learning Group is not in a very good situation. Their last best hope is Ellis University. (Even though they are not in business together wink-wink)

The student forums at NYIT are buzzing about that some recent EU transferee's are really mad that Ellis U does NOT have the means to offer Federal Financial Aid. This is something they never told the (VERY FEW) students that went with them instead of NYIT. EU after the fact, told the students that they have to now pay out of pocket to attend EU. Needless to say some folks are begging to come back to NYIT's nest.

That's a tough one. I know that EllisU made the proper applications to get federal financial aid (their own accreditation was the last thing they needed to make the application), and it generally takes only a couple of months for that application to be approved. I'm sure they (Ellis administration) assumed that by now the federal aid would be in place. Instead, with all of this crap about their accreditation, the application has stalled.

    Tough situation for everyone involved.

    That definitely qualifies.

If there are even allegations of someone breaking FERPA, I would run for the hills. Having members of the board charged with securities fraud doesn't help either. A corrupt organization like Cardean should just go away.

I think they (Cardean) rushed things, GREED is an ugly thing! They also tried to screw the hand that fed them.

The ruined a relationship with a great school and tarnished their rep as well. I think they got too greedy and now their enrollments are way down.

From day one I had issues with Ellis/Cardean FA department, from unreturned phone calls to charging me $800 for a $15 tech fee. They boast "military this and military that" but there is no clear cut way to pay the school.

Ellis College never told me that they school I had to pay was NYIT, and thet Ellis College was not even a school but a NYIT campus. I kept submitting for TA and the ESO could not find Ellis College of NYIT because IT NEVER WAS A COLLEGE.. It goes on and on. Now it's all good but I HAD TO DO IT ALONE, and find out everything myself.. It was a pain!! :(

It's much better now that we are A) just plain old NYIT students and B) NYIT administers the former EC student body.

    Whew

And you stayed at a school when the DoD said it didn't exist because...

The reason the DOD said the school did not exist was because the ELLIS/CARDEAN people did not give me the correct federal school code. The school existed as a campus of NYIT. The code that I now use for TA is NYIT's federal school code.

I don't know why BUT CARDEAN tried to have every student believe Ellis College was it's self a separate college from NYIT when it was not. This is just another CARDEAN LEARNING GROUP smoke screen.

Fortunately I got it all worked out with the TA, but it took many phone calls and emails to get it done. In fact that is how I found out that I was an NYIT student and not an Ellis College student.. Confusing, yes!

However, I did almost leave Ellis but now I am glad I stayed. Ellis/Cardean is out of the picture as far as the former ELLIS COLLEGE students are concerned, we belong 100% to NYIT. The degrees from now on will not have a reference to Ellis College anywhere on them and the transcripts will come from NYIT's Old Westbury campus as well. It worked out!
