The Following is a Direct Quote From Email. Amridge University has been a national leader in distance learning longer than most institutions have been offering programs via distance learning. In fact, Amridge University was 1 of the15 original institutions of higher education chosen by the U.S. Department of Education for the Distan ce Learning Demonstration Program. Amridge University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; Telephone number 404.679.4501) to award Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Divinity, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. I didn't recognize the name "Amridge" . . . which turns out to be very new, and the school's 7th name since its founding. This may be a record, at least for a legitimate, properly-accredited school. 1942: Montgomery Bible School 1954: Alabama Christian College 1966: Faulkner University 1967: Alabama Christian School of Religion 1991: Southern Christian University 2006: Regions University 2008: Amridge University
I liked Southern Christian, mainly because it seemed appropriate. When they switched to Regions (I assume to address their growing DL programs), it caught the ire of Regions Financial and a lawsuit ensued resulting in the name change. In fact I noticed Amridge doesn't mention the Regions name at all. Faulkner University still exists so I'm not sure of that name in this context. Faulkner is a separate institution: http://www.faulkner.edu/discover/history.asp Are you sure you have the correct History?

Amridge University I've been a student at Southern Christian/Regions/Amridge since early 2005. I'm not thrilled about all of the name changes, but the school is definitely legit...I'm in their M.A., Professional Counseling program, and am getting a very good education from professors who really want to help their students succeed. I'm an older student, working full-time in addition to attending classes, and this school was a good choice for me. I transferred after one DL semester at Argosy...where you could never get in touch with a professor or advisor because their voice mailboxes were always full, and the accounting office always had their hand out for something.

http://www.southernchristian.edu/ I find it interesting that Amridge still uses the Southern Christian site instead of something like www.amridge.edu.
