Does anyone know if TESC will accept Business Communication in place of Business Writing for a BA in English?

Well, hypothetically speaking, if they had actual reasonable people (rather than mindless bureaucratic paper-shufflers) doing the degree evaluations, I wouldn't see why there should be any problem. But, who knows? Is there anyone that you could email at TESC itself?

    I have tried emailing them:

"Thank you for your interest in Thomas Edison State College.

Thomas Edison State College requires that you are an enrolled student prior to receiving academic advisement."

This would almost seem like a good market opportunity for TESC's competitors (that is, if there were such a thing as an academic administrator with enough brains to pay attention to the customers). Are there any other schools offering a BA in English that will offer you degree/transfer credit advisement before you actually enroll?

I agree on the market opportunity. COSC and Excelsior do not offer a BA in English, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering the popularity of the degree and the work they would have to put into the program. I would rather not purchase my degree from TESC, but it is the cheapest and quickest option for a RA BA in English.

The Charter Oak State College www.cosc.edu www.charteroak.edu Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Studies offers a "concentration" in Literature and the Excelsior College www.excelsior.edu Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts offers an "area of focus" in Literature in English. Not sure what the differences are between majors and concentrations and areas of focus, though some people do get hung up on the notion that it is not a "major."

Looking at the credit distribution I'm not seeing where business writing is any sort of requirement. The business communcations class I took dealt with a lot of the same subject material as a writing class would, but unfortunately nobody here would be able to give you a definitive answer like TESC could. Are there other electives you could take instead?

Yes, but I am not interested so much in the literature side of things; I really like the academic writing, business writing, and creative writing side of English. And TESC accepts CLEPs and 200 level classes as upper level. And TESC accepts FEMA credits. As far as time and money goes, TESC is my best option. I want to earn the BA as quickly and cheaply as possible and begin working on the MA.

It is not a requirement. I was hoping it would be considered an English elective. LSU has it listed as an English class:
