I am looking for online undergraduate courses that are offered by brick-and-mortar university that accepts student from other countries. For example, the online courses offered by University of Illinois. I am not sure if U of Illinois does accept international students from out of USA for its online course, but I am assuming not since asking a question from their online form requires inputting USA phone numbers. Please advise me. Thanks!

Hi - I got this far

    http://admissions.illinois.edu/contacts.html

without anyone asking me for a phone number. I don't know what specific campus you're trying to contact (in Illinois there are several) but if you can't find a way to send an email without a phone number then you should just pump a bunch of 9s into the boxes.
beyond that maybe you could tell us something about your study goals.

The page I tried on was the Online course section of the university. I've been thinking of asking the international department instead. However I am still unsure about the different timezone issue as I've never taken an online course before. As I am in Indonesia, it will be long into the night here while it is around noon or morning in USA. Since the university of Illinois seems like a respectable institution, I am unsure if they will accept me even if I am willing to study at an unusual time to study in my timezone.

I'm planning to study either Public Relation, Journalism or Business Administration, whichever is available first.

Here's the link for the page I tried on.

Most programs are asynchronous. You work when it is most convenient to you. Good luck.

Thanks for the help Kizmet. I hope I find a good uni to try online learning even if U of Illinois doesn't accept international students for online courses. I like the concept of online learning and think it is more efficient if you don't require the social interaction. Sort of like how they should create a system for patients to submit their data online to their doctors for weekly or monthly check ups. Doctors can earn from subscriptions fee. :) Not a related example, but the efficiency is pretty similar.

Most online programs welcome international students. In fact, many universities pride themselves of offering courses to anyone in the world. The worst thing that can happen to you are increased tuition rates.

Check out if Colorado State has something for you. Large online program, reputable university, and fairly modest tuition fees. Plus, they are explicitly international student-friendly.

Perhaps I am overlooking it, but I don't see either Journalism or Public Relations offered via DL by UoI.

I were thinking of applying for the Business administration course at UoI, they don't have Journalism or Public Relations courses.

Looks like I will just have to continue with my current on-campus application at Uni of Newcastle for my PR degree. I will probably find a DL degree to complete while I am doing my course on-campus though.
