I was wondering if there is anyone attending both the school and this Website? There is a 2007 post that mentions the school but I haven't been able to find any information from someone who is well into their dissertation phase. I'm interested in their PhD Business programs and would like to know firsthand, how long the process takes to gain entrance, dissertation approval and how many visits to the school are necessary.

    Looks like a great program!

    Thanks!

Hi morgan - most often it's a good idea to include a link to the school in question. Most people are like andy and are unaware of the fact that this is a major university located in South Africa. Here it is:

    Thanks Kizmet!

Looks like a great school with a first rate MBA program. I've interested in their PhD offering and would like to hear from someone who is currently in a program at the school. Thanks again.

I am currently enrolled in their MTH program through the faculty of theology and have had nothing but a great experience. I know this is not the field that you are looking at, but I can share some experiences.

Stellenbosch has an excellent reputation in SA. Since bring enrolled the past two years, I have met several from SA that have spoken highly of the school. It used to be known as the brain center for Apartheid, and is now one of the forerunners in integration.

Their international office, which would handle your admission and registration is very helpful. Almost anytime I email them I have an answer back the next day.

Though I am not in the business school, I have seen several news articles on the front of the school website that talks about how their business school has received international awards. You might want to go into their news archives and see if you can find those articles from just this past year.

Hope this information helps. I am going in July to visit for my orals and have heard it is one of the most beautiful campuses in SA.

I think I have had a couple of wines from that region. Have to go downstairs and take a look.

    PMBrooks,

Thanks for your information! It doesn't matter what you are taking so much as I know that you are thrilled with your program and the way the school handles your account. Can you tell me the time-line for registering and how many visits you think you'll need to make to complete their program? I have to be careful when choosing a school with on-site attendance, ... I have to know I can work with their schedule. It's going to be difficult for me to make those trips in the first year or so.

Oh yeah ..., JimLane, ... stop wining will ya? LOL

The residency requirements will probably be determined by your professor. I do not know about the business faculty, but it varies by prof for the theology faculty. For the MTH they want anywhere between 3 to 6 weeks that can be broken up in various periods. So, you might to start emailing profs and see what they say.

    Good luck!

    Thanks PMBrooks!

I'm very excited about this school, their MBA program is top-rated and well accredited. They are definitely on my short list. I'll contact them and see if there is a time table available that will allow me to enroll soon. To date, my best choice so far was UNISA and a possible UK school (I have a UK MBA now) but my goal is to achieve education in as many different countries as possible to create that "international flair" to my education.

Thanks again for your comments and good luck to you!!

Since you already have an MBA, perhaps you would be better off pursuing a Phd or DBA in Business.

    Just a thought.

    Good Luck!

I mentioned what my interest was in this school in my first post and the reason I like the school is that darn MBA program! They have a great MBA program and that makes me think their doctoral programs will be outstanding too.

"....... I'm interested in their PhD Business programs and would like to know firsthand, how long the process takes to gain entrance, dissertation approval and how many visits to the school are necessary."

I tried to get into Rhodes University but they wanted me to do the program on-site and that was not an option. This one looks great and I might be able to make a series of trips to accommodate it.

    Thanks for your interest!
