TESC alums, I am working with a student who has some older credits from IVY Tech. I have been looking around TESC's website and I can't find any info on transferring in older credits. Does anyone either know - or can point me in the right direction, concerning where I find this info? I want to craft a draft degree plan for my student before we register for Spring Semester (when she graduates) Shawn
I suggest doing a word search of the TESC catalog. I seaerched for "currency" and found that TESC has an age limitation for Technology credits (see catalog page 27).
I found the same in regards to nursing credits but it seems like gen ed credits have no age limit on them...
Older credits Hello, My husband received his second BA in 2001. His original degree was received in 1975. TESC accepted the maximum credits transferable 80-90. He was able to CLEP TECEP CC and FEMA through the rest in under 6 months having an aged D expunged with a TECEP. Hille Feel free to pm me for any other questions.
This is interesting, and I hadn't thought about age of credits, until I just got a degree eval back from U of Wyoming, 15 years is the limit for them for courses that count towards your major.
Gen ed classes are forever, CLEP is only 20 years, and business/industry is <10 years. Another 2 cents, TESC will allow you to petition for currency of credit in a field that you work in. I'm not 100% sure how it works, but my husband's unofficial eval from TESC in 2006 stated directly on the page that X number of his business credits were too old (can't recall the number) but that X number were allowed under their standard policy- and that if he was working in the industry of the credits, he could apply to demonstrate his currency. (note- that would be a free attempt at getting the credit on your transcript, while doing a PLA may be suggested in cases like this, that would be a VERY costly and extensive process)
