The M.A.T. and M.Ed. information in the sticky is dated and inaccurate. Does anyone know of a RA program that is completely online and around $100 per credit hour for a Missouri resident? Thanks.

I don't know, but maybe you can update the info yourself.

The list certainly not dated, as Ted created it just this year. If you have examples of inaccuracies, either send them to Ted, or do as he said, and fix them yourself (by adding to the sticky thread).

Your link doesn't work. I believe you were trying to link to this thread, which is NOT the MEd sticky thread, but rather a regular thread from 2005. In the proper MEd sticky thread, Ted referred to these older, by price, threads and indicated that they were dated from May 2005. He then proceeded to provide a state by state breakdown of DL MEd programs, which encompassed over 60 posts and took several months to complete.

If you took the time to actually look at the MEd sticky thread, you would see an entry on page 3 for DL MEd programs from the "Great State of Missouri". While none of these programs meet your criteria exactly, (hey, Ted doesn't set the tuition prices, he just kindly reports on them) there is a school (Northwest Missouri State University) that comes close at $194.80/credit for in-state residents.

Keep in mind that the people that provide information to this website are doing so on a voluntary basis (i.e. they do not get paid for doing so). If you need a professional to meet your information needs, then hire one. Your comments are borderline rude and unnecessary.

Thank you for the working link. I used the terms "dated" and "inaccurate." I stand by what I said. Neither are rude. Ted even states the information is dated. Because it is dated, the prices are not current; therefore, inaccurate. I read the thread. I am asking one of the experts a specific question with specific requirements.

The thread that you linked to concerning programs under $10,000 is dated and inaccurate. I am looking for updated information concerning programs that are under $10,000 for distance learners.

So then why don't you go out and get that information yourself. This is a community not a temp labor pool for would-be graduate students who think firing up google on their PCs is dangerous.

Uhhhh...slamming someone's volunteer work isn't likely to yield good results. Experts on the forum are members- not employees.
What is in that thread is a gift, take it or leave it....or contribute to it :)

I'm going to second Jennifer's thoughts here - when something is dated or inaccurate, and if you have the info, the right thing is to correct the thread. Tuition costs and program offerings are constantly changing.

One of the unwritten rules of a message board is to give back info as well as take.

    Have a happy Thanksgiving :)

This will be the last thing I say concerning this issue. I don't have time for childishness. The under $10,000 thread is dated and inaccurate. Ted said the same. I have offered free help to as many people as I could help. I have given and taken free information on this board. I didn't slam anyone's work; I simply said that INFORMATION is dated and inaccurate. I am NOT slamming Ted; I am talking about DATA. Grow up.

You used the terms "dated" and "inaccurate" in reference to the sticky thread (which was just created in January).

As I incidated earlier, in the sticky thread, Ted initially refers to the outdated (by price) MEd threads and states that these are in fact dated and likely not accurate. Ted then saw the obvious need out there to create a compiled list of DL MEd programs by state and price. Whatever else you need can be searched upon, either here or elsewhere, on your own. If that doesn't do the trick, then either go down to your local public library and ask for assistance, or hire a private information professional to do the research for you.

I just hired an expert in education programs that are online and under $10,000 in the state of Missouri. I don't need the question answered any longer. Thanks for all of your input. Close the thread, please.

Originally created in May 2005. Of course, the tuition info will be dated by now. And some schools will have added/dropped certain majors. Some new schools will have added DL MEd programs while other old schools will have abolished their DL MEds. And some formerly unaccredited schools will have gotten accredited while other formerly accredited schools will have lost accreditation. And such like. That's why the MEd Sticky was created this year. Not enough time is just an excuse. Anybody can go through any thread and make updates, revisions, etc. Do you really expect me to devote 24/7/365 for the rest of my life to revising & updating old threads and creating new threads on where to get this, that, or the other degree via DL all as a free public service?

Overall, my experience has been that the cheapest degree program in 2005 will likely be the cheapest degree program in 2008, even if the prices have all changed. The purpose of creating a "Sticky" is to give people fast access to relatively comprehensive list of programs within a specific subject area. Also, there tends to be some good discussion related to these programs. It is understood that tuition/fees info will become inaccurate over time. Faculty listings also become inaccurate and somewhat less frequently degree requirements change. My general expectation is that the reader will use the sticky as a kind of compass to guide themselves through the various programs. It can saves hours of reseach. However, the reader should also understand that they should check for the accuracy of the info in the thread as these things do change. It is also nice if you take a moment to post a link to the updated info. It's a kind of "pay it forward" idea. While I'm not specifically referring to Sowak, I have had occassion to say to members that they ought to try to do at least some of their own homework. There are members who seem to log in and then proceed to ask all manner of questions without having made any effort to find the answers themselves. Often times there is a thread within easy reach that answers their questions but they haven't even bothered to look. There is no question that this sometimes happens on this board and perhaps people are just a bit sensitive to this issue at this time.

Western New Mexico University offers a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, of which the concentration options include Bilingual Education, Education (Educational Technology, Elementary Education, Secondary Education), Reading, and Special Education. At $131/hr. for in-staters, this 36-hr. program runs a total tuition bill of $4,716. New Mexico schools offer in-state prices to out-of-state students taking online courses provided they enroll for no more than 6 hrs. a term. Coincidentally, 6 hrs. a term is the minimum necessary to qualify for federally guaranyeed student loans.

EDIT: I should probably learn not to post when I have been sleep-deprived or when my diabetes is acting up. But I was offended because your thread title and thread-starting post made it seem that you were saying that the MEd Sticky (less than one year old) was already outdated when your concern was the threads on DL MEd Programs (By Pricing Category) were dated (which I already admitted they were, as they are a little over three years old). Another thing that made me feel a bit wounded was that it seemed that you were saying that my work was not good enough when I volunteer a lot of my time trying to help people find the DL degrees they want and need. I am neither a paid employee nor a part-owner with a share of the profits. I do this for free simply because I think hanging out at distance learning discussion boards is fun. I further did not mean that it was entirely your responsibility to completely revise & edit a 60+ post thread. I simply meant that, if everybody possessing a bit of information would post additions and changes as they become aware of them, then old threads could remain more current. Peace!
