Is anyone familiar with Henley-Putnam University ? Specifically, either the Bachelors or Masters degree in Counterterrorism ?

It looks rather intriguing and I'm looking for either a cert, diploma, bach or masters in that area...

DETC-accredited, so they're certainly legitimate. They advertise pretty heavily in the police-related publications I receive, but with the explosion of RA programs in Homeland Security, I think there are better options out there.

Jobs in this field are highly competitive. You're competing against current and retired military and law enforcement officers, many of whom hold high security clearances and have completed studies at much more prestigious institutions.

In my view, statements like this put the school's credibility and utility in question:

"Henley-Putnam University changed its name in early 2007 from the California University of Protection and Intelligence Management to better reflect its online bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degree programs."

I've been looking and found only a few - if anyone has links I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm not worried about competition in the sector, I'm gainfully employed and am not looking to switch careers, but to enhance my current skill set to open more doors within my organization.

Take a look at international relations, legal studies, diplomacy, political science, etc. programs. A lot of them offer concentrations in things like national security, homeland security, and terrorism studies and offer individual classes on terrorism.

Examples: Troy University, Norwich University, and California University of Pennsylvania.

A bit steep @ $2700 / course... 2 courses for the Cert; 3 for the Diploma... $5400 for a certificate.. *cringe* Good link and as soon as I find some money lying around, I'll take another look at it ;)

    Thanks for the find, though!

Just my 2 cents but you may also want to consider fields like political science and public administration. These courses do cover issues like homeland security and national security but they also broaden your career choices. AMU/APU allows you to choose a certificate along with a degree program. Therefore one could get a MPA with a certificate in homeland security of course there are many options to choose from. Personally, I would rather choose a specialization that opens up many career opportunities.

Excellent thought - I've taken a look at AMU/APU and they seem to have a good match to what I'm looking for; I agree with you, combining an MPA with a Certificate would definitely be beneficial and open up doors without breaking the bank.

There you go. Perhaps getting a certificate along with your current credentials may broaden your career potential. Cool.
