And that is not selective. I live in California but willing to
enroll in out of state colleges. Would prefer tuition to be about $6000 per year or less. Also would prefer traditional colleges. So far I've only come up with Florida Tech University (also know as Florida Institute of Technology). Please help.

Both Excelsior and TESC offer bachelors degrees in accounting. Living in California gives you a great price break. You can take all the accounting credits (plus general ed credits) allowed by Excelsior/TESC at two year community colleges for around $20 per unit. Then take upper division wherevever you can find them at a tuition fee that fits your needs.
You can also look into challenge exams such as CLEP and DANTES/DSST.

Peru State College is the school I'm going through right now for my second bachelors degree in accounting. So far everything has been smooth (with the exception of one dud professor). The tuition is very affordable and the staff is very helpful when I've had to call for assistance or clarification.

The cheapest one, which others already stated above. Liberty University and Indiana Wesley University have BA/BS in Accounting with $200.00 - $250.00 per credit range.

My observation is that Peru is the best choice.

Everywhere you go is a dud professor. I like Peru very much and wanted my wife (I am sounding like Dr. Bear) to go there, but then she declined the idea of getting into accounting. She leaves that to me( I can't get enough accounting):D.

    Hi Vini,

My wife is going to take an Accounting class 2/09 at the local CC. If she has a question, can she pm or email you? I assure the questions would be absolute minimum since she will have a teacher. It would be much appreciated. Let me know ok? If you are too busy that is ok.

    Take care,

    Abner :)

Thanks Vini! No. She is looking to complete a BA in liberal studies from TESC, hopefully next year. However, at work she is constantly led into the A/P, accounting type fields of work. Her boss was overjoyed at the thought of her taking an accounting class. At this point, I would like to see her complete a degree in anything (her quickest route is liberal studies since that is where the bulk of her past credits are), and then supplment it with A/P or Accounting certificates to compliment her ongoing experience. Having these degrees/certs will look good on a resume, and will help greatly in case of a lay off/downsizing.

    Thanks once again,

    Abner

So I think I'm thinking of doing Peru State, Liberty University (I'm not really religious), UMUC, Excelsior, TESC, Charter Oak, or Franklin University with Peru State being first (it seems to be cheap). Any thoughts?

    one more option:

    Columbia Southern University (http://www.columbiasouthern.edu/financial/index.asp)
    Tuition: $195 including books

Excellent student services and so far I have enjoyed the curriculum and the course structure.

only draw back (for some people): DETC

All are perfectly serviceable choices. Peru is very affordable. Price was one of the primary factors that attracted me to the school.

UMUC might be my second choice because people seem to like University of Maryland.

Athens State (in Athens, Alabama). $220/hr for out-of-state, if I recall correctly.

In my research for an accounting school, I followed a link from this forum to US NEWS top colleges... Franklin is listed under speciality school (not big enough to make the main rankings) also Indiana Institute of Technology...
anyone have any personal experiences with either??
