Hello all! This afternoon, I sucessfully completed my Ph.D. Dissertation Defense! - As my committee stated - now go out and do the research! This board has been a great place to get support - so a big miigwech (thanks) to all of you! Shawn
Congratulations! I think we all should be proud to be part of this discussion board forum and to witness all the positive contributions that it makes is a great delight. I'm really happy for you, and always makes you feel good when you get something major accomplished. Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks to everyone - I need to make it clear that the hurdle was the dissertaion proposal defense. What a big weight off of my shoulders! Shawn
You're right, it is a big hurdle. I hope that you can plow through the research in good form. Keep us up to date.
Congratulations! I was going to ask you about that but didn’t want to sound negative.. I am currently gathering my research data, it does seem to be all downhill after the proposal is accepted, at NCU it goes through 4 levels of acceptance, your chair, your committee, the business school review, and an internal review board university request. I’m sure Cappella was something similar, care to share?
Getting committee-acceptance of my proposed research methodology was the hardest part, but it was downhill after that. Congratulations!
Dave, Dave, Capella has a similar process - but a little different. The levels at Capella are: Chair B-school Review IRB Committee My chair though (and what most Capella chairs do) - is to have the committee perform a review of the proposal before the chair approves the proposal. Once this happens, then the other three steps (B-school review, IRB, and committee) should happen quickly. BTW - I just returned from a wonderful dinner with my wife - who has been a pillar of strength throughout this process. She has sacrificed greatly throughout the process Shawn
Well good luck and good luck to your wife, she almost has you back. It looks like the 4 gates are the same just in a different order. I'm flying back from CA where I conducted my last (of 5) focus groups, which means all my data is in and I just have to actually do the work of the analysis. I'm stoping over in AZ for 2 days and am visiting NCU Wednesday. I could be finished by March or sooner unless there is some surprise... Good luck.
Congrats, Shawn! That's a huge hurdle, indeed. Good luck with your research, and keep us updated on your progress! Cheers, Adrienne
