    Hello!
I am a new-comer on distance learning,I am considering on chossing a ungergrad degree by distance learning mode... I am looking in management/politics related degrees, I made some research and I found some suitable for me....

    1. University of London: Bsc in politics and international relations, Bsc in Management, these two course looks nice but my local institutions did not provide tutor class on politics......

    2. University of Alabama: BS in Commerce and Business Administration by online http://academicoutreach.ua.edu/page.cfm?page=degreeWeb&wpid=36&wmid=181&wcid=314 , looks also a good programme as the good reputation of U of alabama, but I concerned that I may need to travel to US many times.....

    3. U Mass Amherst's online BBAhttp://www.isenberg.umass.edu/undergrad/Online_Degree_Program/ but I afraid I may not match the credit transfer's needs...

    4. IFS School UK and University of Manchester's distance learning degree BSc (Hons) in Financial Markets and Management degree
http://www.ifslearning.ac.uk/qualifications/courses/bsc_fmm.cfmI can finish the course by a distance learning mode with only 4 subjects, but I am afraid that my future employers may questioned the quality of the degree

    5. Monash University's off campus degree: Have Business/Politics degree that can finished by distance learning mode, but I have to finish the additional year in australia if I am qualified to enter the honours year.....

    6. Northeastern University's distance learning degree: also have Business/Politics degree that can finished by distance learning mode, but the degree is issued by the continuting department.......

    7. U of Penn's LPS B.A degree, no matters with distance learning, just learned that I can earn a B.A degree as other freshmen does, LPS website did not give me enough info, but it told it is possible to enter their double degree mode with Wharton....... I may choose if I can finance my study

Have anyone have a experience on these degrees, or you can give me other possible choices.....

Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies (BSPS)

Duquesne University offers the Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies (BSPS) via distance education (online delivery mode). While the tuition is expensive at approximately USD1800.00 per 3-credit hour course the school is highly regarded. I still have my eye on one of their graduate degrees at some point in the future.

The course materials for the degrees offered by the University of London do not necessitate tutors. Since you are considering the University of London you might also be interested in the degrees offered by UNISA.

If on the other hand earning an undergraduate as inexpensively as possible, you can complete the courses at a variety of schools and assemble those credit hours in a degree at Charter Oak State College, Excelsior College, or Thomas Edison State College.

I suspect the UK degrees you mentioned will be a lot tougher than compable US degrees.
U of Penn is an ivy league school and would be good choice if you can afford it (I did not know they had a DL program - can you provide a link?).

You might want to check out Penn State
    http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/degrees.shtml
BS degrees in business or organizational leadership
BA in letters, arts, and sciences

PennAdvance is what most people refer to when they speak of UPenn's DL programs, I believe.

    not a distance program
it's a Bachelor of Arts program operated by College of Liberal and Professional Studies http://www.sas.upenn.edu/lps/undergraduate/ba
that can apply a major in their art/science departments
one major called Huntsman International studies and business is operated with Wharton
Graduates can get a additional Wharton degree
LPS said applicants of this degree may enter this major

Maybe if you took a moment and outlined what you are looking for, or searched the forum, you seem to have something fairly specific in mind.......

    Hi smith007,

I assume, from your opening post, you are considering an undergraduate degree in distance learning mode right?

UPenn's degree can only be completed by on-campus study (mostly by evening classes). And, IF my understanding is correct, what they mean on the website is that you may study courses/modules offered on the Huntsman program. You will earn a B.A. degree from the College of Liberal and Professional Studies, and NOT a B.A. or B.S. from Huntsman and Wharton. I am pretty sure about this! But you may wish to contact UPenn if you need to have it clarified.

You are right about PSU's B.S. business degree. It is not from Smeal. But in my opinion, it is probably one of the best (if not the best) undergraduate business degree you can get online. How important is an AACSB accreditation to you? I am asking this because some of the schools you have listed are not AACSB accredited (e.g. University of London, Monash University and Northeastern's CPS).

I wouldn't worry about the quality of the ifs School of Finance/University of Manchester B.S. degree because the degree itself is awarded by Manchester Business School (of the University of Manchester). MBS has triple accreditation (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS) and is ranked Top-30 globally. But unless you have prior studies (undergraduate) in business and finance, you will not get any kind of exemption. You will have to do all 12 modules (instead of 4).

How about the degree of U Alabama and U Mass Amherst?
My reason that concerning a AACSB accreditation is because this means the school have a quality comparing with others without holding a AACSB accreditation.

Monash is a very good university. An honours year in Australia is generally a research year with a dissertation. People go from honours to a doctorate without needing a masters degree. Very few people do an honours year here. It is not easy.

I would also check a currency converter when assessing foreign universities to get the best for your buck.

Both University of Alabama and and UMass - Amherst offer AACSB accredited business degrees (online). They have good reputation and are great choices if you can afford them.

IMHO, AACSB is more important when you are comparing universities with similar reputations. In reality, employers are usually more interested in where you got your degree than whether it is accredited by AACSB or not. For example, a non-AACSB accredited degree from PSU will catch more attention than an AACSB accredited degree from Western Michigan University (no offense, just a comparison).

University of Florida is a great school, but I seriously doubt they'll arrange out of state (or country for that matter) testing.

Their BBA program is designed for transferring in credits from an Associate's degree, but you'll also need to meet the standard University entrance requirements, even if you already have an Associate's degree.

    You'll need...

    * 60 transferable semester hours from a RA school
    * Competitive SAT/ACT scores
    * Two years of a foreign language in high school or 8-10 sequential hours of a foreign language in college (You'll have to prove foreign language proficiency)
    * Completion of seven (7) preprofessional courses with a minimum GPA of 2.25

The minimum entrance GPA is 2.0, but there's a very slim chance of getting in with that. Admission to UF is very competitve. Most people view the minimum as 3.5, and anything higher will give you a better chance at getting accepted.

I went to school in Florida, and I was planning on attending UF at one time. ;P

UOF is good! But they ONLY offer test sites within Florida - be prepared that you will need to make your way there a few times per year.

UIS, UIGC and WSU are certainly not as good as Alabama, UMass and PSU.
