For those currently living through the doctoral process, or those wishing to relive the experience, I suggest PhD comics.
In a rare conversation with Bill Marriott when I worked for Marriott, I told him I was working on my doctorate, to which he replied very glibly: oh Pile High Dummy. Feeling brave, my glib response back was: maybe, but the real joke is you are paying for it.
He thought it was hilarious. I now consult in the field and have fond memories of when I worked for Marriott. (my leaving and this comment weren’t related….. unless I think about the timing….. hey wait a minute ……. :0 )
Reminds me of the time I used CompuServe many years ago and the dial-up number was a misprint and ended up being the telephone number of some little old lady. I eventually dialed in through another long distance telephone number and was able to search via CompuServe for the real telephone number closer to my location.
Oh man. That comic is too close to home. I sometimes think my research is going to be a trainwreck. LOL
With regards to your PhD (History), would that be a historical trainwreck or a trainwreck of historical proportion?
Thank you. Indeed, it is Calgary College of Technology (BG15, 265) whose phones were answered "Spiro's Pizza Parlor." Straight out of Chapter 27: Degree Mills in Bears' Guide, 15th edition.
