Does anyone have information about schools giving scholarships or grants for current or prospective graduate students learning at a distance ?(irrespective of the majors)

    Thanks

    Not yet but…

We’re working on an alumni sponsored scholarship program within the Aspen University Alumni Association. This is one of two major initiatives we’ve taken on to expand the reach of the alumni group and further goodwill. We’ve created the Alumni Educational Foundation which will administer the fund and select recipients.

If everything hold to schedule we should be active in Q3 2009. I know not exactly the answer you were looking for, but a move in the right direction.

Hopefully a program, such as this one from one of the prez candidates will happen under the next administration:

Create the American Opportunity Tax Credit: Obama and Biden will make college affordable for all Americans by creating a new American Opportunity Tax Credit. This universal and fully refundable credit will ensure that the first $4,000 of a college education is completely free for most Americans, and will cover two-thirds the cost of tuition at the average public college or university and make community college tuition completely free for most students. Recipients of the credit will be required to conduct 100 hours of community service.

100 hours of community service easy to do - could include such activities as helping kids with math/reading/writing, volunteering in a museum or park, etc.
Maybe even get credit for the community service.

I don’t know of any schools offering scholarships specifically for distance learning students, but I do know that many professional associations award scholarships to students pursuing related degree programs.

Typically the scholarships are provided to cover educational expenses, regardless of the method of education (DL or residence). The professional associations I am involved in (and their scholarship information) include:

    National Contract Management Association (NCMA)

    Institute for Supply Management (ISM)

    Project Management Institute (PMI)

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)

My recommendation is to get involved in the professional associations related to your field of study. This will help you academically as well as professionally.

Doesn't a Pell Grant already make community college practically free for most people.
