Many of you have successfully entered the Community College teaching arena. Would a cert like this http://ced.ncsu.edu/ccteachonline/ be useful for someone trying to break in?

    Kindly,

    Hi Steve,

I got my first CC job with zero teaching experience. The certificate looks interesting and it may help the first time online adjunct get noticed...but I think luck has more to do with snagging that first online gig than anything else. Luck plus a masters and experience in the field that one wants to teach.

I agree, but just about everyone who applies has a Masters degree and experience.

To paraphrase the villian in the movie Titanic, sometimes you have to make your own luck, and having something which makes you stand out from the crowd could be a real advantage, IMO. If nothing else, it indicates a sincere desire to teach at the CC level.
