Another hurdle crossed

I have received notification today that the Capella University Institutional Review Board has approved my dissertation proposal - it's off to the oral defense!

I plan to defend the proposal withing the next four weeks once I can get the committee to agree to the schedule.

How long do you figure it will take you, from start to finish, to do your dissertation process, post-comps?

I started the dissertation in March 2006 - I expect to be complete December 2009. The proposal took a lot longer than expected, and I took a quarter off to take care of family business. (I have 7 kids - so life is hectic at my house).

My mentor and I are working to bring the committee together for the proposal defense during the last week of October.
