I am wrapping up my first week of studies with AJU and I have to say that so far, I am very pleased. The required texts are the same as you would find at most other universities, there are online discussions and review exams and taking three courses at a time doesn't seem to be overwhelming. At the same time, I am learning a lot and the material is sufficiently challenging. With the "sponsored tuition", it's even more of a good deal. Although I have just started my undergrad studies with AJU, I'm giving serious thought to getting an MBA with them as well, if they still have the sponsored tuition deal.

Right on Terry!!!!! Way to go. Have fun.

I am at a bit of stand still with Aspen right now. I ordered an IE book, but the shipping will take up to 4 weeks. Hopefully, I only have another week or two of waiting. It is giving me an excuse to catch up on a few home repairs.

    Take care,

    Abner :)

The webcam is for use during the proctored examinations. I do not think the webcam is required for any of the courses except when taking examinations. Terry, can you shed any insight on this question?

That is correct, it make easier than hunting down the proctor, AJU will send it soon.

I persuaded my ex-wife to join up at AJU and her experiences have also been pretty positive. There have been some content errors in the online quizzes and such, but nothing I've not run into myself at other schools. The course messaging tool also seems to not be very intuitive (/flog programmer). Otherwise I'd say its on par with most any RA online courses I've taken myself (if not more so), particularly in terms of rigor.

She'll be taking her first proctored exam (mid-term) in the next couple of weeks via the webcam they sent her.

That's right, the web cam is used for the proctored examinations. Instead of finding a proctor in your community, you schedule a time with an AJU proctor to take your exam. At the appointed time, you log on to the test site, and then contact the proctor either via phone or with a microphone on your computer. Before the exam begins, you scan the room with your web cam, show your government issued ID, and then begin your exam. This way, your entire course, proctored exams included, can be done right in your own home.

With the proctors, what are the available times to schedule? I work most week days, do they allow testing on Saturday mornings?

I don't! they charge $30 per exam... if there are only finals that would be $360... it's prob more...
and my local library has a free proctoring service... which they won't let me use :(

I answered my own question, I called AJU admissions they have evening and weekend proctor hours available.

  15. Hey everyone. I am a tad late on this subject...but better late then never I guess. I was just browsing AJU's site and noticed that it stated that their class are "self paced". What is the average timeline for taking classes.

Glad to hear everything is going so well Terry. I've always been a fan of AJU as you probably already know.

As a former AJU adjunct faculty member - I can tell you that time to complete a course varied on the motivation of the student. Some students went through in less than 10 weeks - while others took 6 months, or in some cases, never finished.

These classes are NOT self-paced. There is a calendar on the student's online portal, the AJU classroom, which lists due dates for the various assignments in the courses. Basically, you have 10 days to finish each lesson, and each course has 10 lessons, a mid-term, and a final exam.

I actually learned this the hard way. I didn't pay attention to the calendar on the AJU Classroom and was just working along at a leisurely pace. After all, I have 16 weeks to finish the course. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the colored dates on the calendar and discovered they were due dates for lessons. That's what I get for only skimming the student handbook. I'm now in a race to finish my first lessons by Thursday.

Of course, you can finish each lesson in fewer than 10 days, but there are due dates for the lessons.

These are suggested dates, so you keep your self in pace, in one of my course there was another student that finished in about 28 days. If you do an assignment a day should be able to finished in the allotted time or less.
