Hey guys as you know Penn Foster started to offer Bachelor Degrees. However i just checked the DETC website and they dont list Penn Foster College as authorized to award such degree plus the school says on its own website "Penn Foster College is licensed by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education and is authorized to award Associate of Science Degrees" http://www.pennfostercollege.edu/bs-criminaljustice/certification.html So where are the bachelors coming from?? air?? God?? please help me clarify
Penn Foster Bachelor of Science programs for your exclusive viewing, transmitted through the air. http://www.pennfostercollege.edu/bs-busmgmt/index.html http://www.pennfostercollege.edu/bs-criminaljustice/index.html
I believe that schools are accredited, not programs. If you received a BS from Penn Foster College it would be an undergrad degree from a school accredited by the DETC.
If you check p. 33 of the School Directory of the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education, you will see that Penn Foster College is state-authorized for BS degrees in Criminal Justice and Business Management. So the degrees are clearly legal. It's true, however, that the BS programs are not listed in the Penn Foster entry at DETC. You might want to follow up with an email to the school, or to DETC, to see if these programs have received DETC approval as well. The DETC Accrediting Commission approves new courses and degree programs at member institutions at their semiannual meetings in January and June.
