    MBA link

    Here's the MBA

Lovely campus in Cardiff. All of the colleges are very friendly places with very loyal alumni.

It might be mentioned however that the Wales University colleges don't enjoy the best reputation in Britain. The fictious Bridget Jones went to Bangor, which is an insider's way of saying that's she's not especially clever.

    Wales MBA

Hmmm, I didn't see that. Still this should be no deterrent to a truly devoted distance student.

Seriously, I didn't examine this completely, but it looks as though the University of Wales, Cardiff, is now Cardiff University. They have the Cardiff Business School. It does not seem to have a distance MBA. http://courses.cf.ac.uk/postgraduate/course/detail/243.html

There is also a University of Wales Institute, Cardiff which has the Cardiff Institute of Management. I couldn't find any mention of a distance MBA there either.
    http://www.uwic.ac.uk/courses/business/MBA.asp?subs.section=postgrad

The ONLY official Wales site that referred to a distance MBA is http://www.wales.ac.uk/. This is NOT Cardiff U or the Institite, rather the central office of the Federation. The distance programs seem to be deliverd through various providers

    http://www.wales.ac.uk/defaultpage.asp?page=E7051&country=ONLINE

I did find lots of sites that claimed to offer an MBA "validated" or "awarded" by Wales

    For example:

    http://www.professional-training.biz/assets/pdf/WalesMBA.pdf

    http://www.rdi-usa.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5&Itemid=12

    http://www.college.ch/online-mba.html

I'm uncertain as to what this means. It could be that these places have their own curriculum to prepare for a Wales exam.

Here's links to all Wales colleges and universities

Andrew Cawley at their USA office is a good contact person - Tel. 1 239 444 1730. They had a DBA progam for about 2 weeks that fizzled with Charles Darwin University - was told that a UK DBA will be rolled out in Jan 2009

It appears to be a marketing arrangement, couched as a "validation" service. The University of Wales is lending its hefty imprimatur to these less recognized/prestigious external private entities - for a price.

The private schools get (to someone not familiar with the UK university system) an impressive-sounding partner; Univ. of Wales gets some money and wider exposure. Pretty cheesy.

This arrangement is reminiscent of some of the certificate and degree programs conducted under license by a prestigious school - Villanova, for example. In practice, the coursework is conducted by an external, for-profit entity having no relationship whatsoever with the "big name" institution except for a marketing agreement.

I'll happily eat my words if I'm wrong, but I'd venture to guess that none of U. of Wales tenured faculty will be teaching courses in RDI's MBA program anytime soon.

well i take it you are from america since you mentioned vilanova. some of you americans are idiots. stop blubbering your mouth off until you know exactly how education works in the uk.

you are wrong. the uni of wales is a respected uni, the chancellor is the prince charles. do you my idiot friend know who queen elizabeth ll is? yeah? like the head of state of the UK , Australia and Canada? prince charles is her oldest son and the heir to her throne.

it is not just a marketing arrangement, there is a lot of cooperation with the univeristy itself through quality audit process and moderators appointed. i am too lazy to type it all out, for those interested visit this link where i explain a little on the british education system

Why, golly...I've never heard of Queen Betty or Prince Chuck. This Chuck guy sounds pretty important....I admire a guy like him who makes time to personally mentor faculty and review curricula.

    Chancellor Charles

I'm not sure if you're aware of this but Prince Charles is not exactly popular among the Welsh. In Wales, people name their dogs Carlos in his honour.

At British unis, the Chancellor is purely a figurehead; the VC does all the work.

you are not exactly the brightest spark in the shed are you?

It doesnt matter if it is just a figurehead position. the very fact that prince charles agrees to be chancellor of the uni shows that the uni is of a respectable standard and is 100% legit

try getting obama or biden to be a chancellor of your university and tell me how it goes.

The people in wales are proud to be part of the uk and proud of their great country! not sure where you got that misinformation from! if they werent happy in wales, they would be in france or germany, given that they are holders of an EU passport they can move to wherever they like in the EU!

JJJE! writes, "try [sic] getting obama [sic] or biden [sic] to be a chancellor of your university and tell me how it goes."

Well that might be difficult . . . but how about academic all-stars like these folks:

Bill Bryson, American author and humorist
    Floella Benjamin, Trinidadian television actress
Patrick Stewart, "Captain Picard" on Star Trek
Imran Khan Niazi, Pakistani cricket player
    Anna Ford, television news reader
    Tim Waterstone, bookstore founder
    Sheila Hancock, comedian
    John Simpson, BBC reporter
    Steve Cram, retired track star

Every one is currently the Chancellor of a legitimate British university. What a shame that Moe Howard has died; he could've been next in line.

Just wanted to apologise to the American majority here. Some of us Brits can actually construct sentences and capatilise, not to mention engage in polite discourse.

This JEEE! is obviously a troll and should best be ignored. Hopefully he'll go away soon, he's probably got to abuse some fellow illiterates on YouTube anytime now.

    Peace,

What I am saying is essentially very simple. It is easy to get a nobody to be a chancellor of your university and they will accept it. Like what you have said - getting some tv celebraties to be chancellor is easy. But to get the Prince of Wales himself to be your chancellor and for him to accept the position, that speaks something about the reputation of the university. Because the Prince of Wales will be the future head of state of Canada, Australia, the UK and New Zealand and he does not associate easily with low class universities, he has a reputation to upkeep.

John Bear you seriously need to grow a brain. Jeesh.

Bottom line I am proud to be a wales alummni. Many MPs and prominent people in the UK hold degrees from the uni of wales, I am proud to have the same certificate as they do!

PS: pardon my english it is 3am here and I am sleepy.
PPS: i wont be replying to anymore of these nonsense because it is apparent that replying to fools and delusional idiots is a waste of time.

    Universoty of Wales

The first entry on the thread for this subject has a proper link to all the info I needed to apply and be accepted to the University of Wales through the RDI program, and it's quite legit.

I will agree with Dr. John Bear that I think universities in the UK will offer anyone with some measure of public notoriety the opportunity to be a chancellor there. The idea that it is Prince Charles in this case does add a lot of weight, but then again, he's the Prince of Wales. Who else would they get? It's not like the Prince of Wales would refuse the University of Wales, right? Not if he actually wants to be king, I would think. Dr. Bear is right about that.

Regarding JEEE! - I have met and known many, many Brits in my life. My father was born and raised in East Sussex. In life and in business I have probably encountered hundreds of Brits here in San Francisco and other places as well. Never once have I met such a rude bird as this JEEE! We Americans are not stupid. We have invented/pateted/developed nearly everything of any importance (including most scientific and medical discoveries) of the last 100 years and there is a lot more where that came from. I take particular offense to your comments.

But I do agree that it would be a joke to have either Obammy or badda-boom-badda-Biden as a university chancellor in the US, where the Chancellor is actually responsible for running the place, unlike the UK.

I don´t think it´s a good idea to decide on a university based on who is chancellor there. Find some former students of the school, talk to them and see what opinion they have. I´m pretty sure prince charles never studied anything at the university of wales. If you might consider going for an online mba you can find some handy info here: cheapest mba
