There has been considerable discussion on here about Andrew Jackson University's Sponsored Tuition Program that allows students to go to school without paying tuition.

I wanted to let you know that we just released a video of Don Kassner, our President, explaining the program a little more in detail. You can view it at:

    Hi Jmorgan:

I have a few questions for you and the AJU team:

-whats the total cost (all expenses included) of the AJU MBA?
-whats the estimated number of hours required to do one thing or the other relating to the AJU MBA coursework on the internet per month?
-can the MBA be done in 1 year?

    Thanks

    Sam

    Jmorgan:

Thanks for posting the video link. There seems little doubt that AJU's sponsored tuition program is groundbreaking and the academics have been getting good notices on this board. My hesitation to jump on board lies with the the lack of regional accreditation and the potential pitfalls it may pose in the future (e.g., transferability of credits to RA schools; prejudice among some employers).

How common is it for a DETC school such as AJU to pursue and ultimately receive regional accreditation? Is there any discussion among the AJU board to seek RA? Under the best of circumstances, what is the time frame having RA status granted?

    Thanks.

Currently, there are three DETC accredited schools which also hold regional accreditation (so transferring to those schools for a graduate degree is an option). They are American Military University, Ellis College and Western Governors University.

I know these questions are directed to Jmorgan but I will jump to answer:

    Interesting questions:

Assuming you don't have any transfer credits, I would said around $5k more or less.

It depends on the class but be ready to invest about 90 to 120 hours per month approximately.

It is possible by taking 3 classes a term (assuming you finish 9 credits every 3 months) but you will need to move along faster than the term(17 weeks 3 terms per year at AJU) so you can jump to the next term(you are allowed to move the next term), and possible won't have a life outside the books that is if you hold a full time job. If you don't work or work part time you will have a better chance to finish in less than 18 months( 12 months). This can be a heavy load and your learning may be hindrance if you do a really fast pace.

Here are better numbers, this assuming you take 9 credits per term MBA with 36 credits:

Initial $615(includes registration fee of $75 and term fees and proctored fees)
Subsequent semesters of $490(includes proctored fees) x 3= $1,470 + $615= $2,085 fees +$1,800 for books and or materials(this can be reduced even more if you buy used books or cheaper version of them by 1/2): Grand total of $3,885 approximately. The saving comes when you bulk for the classes, if you take less then number calculate here will increase as you add another term etc... my reasoning for $5K number above.

I too would like to know if AJU plans to consider RA accreditation? I am in the application process, and have had a great experience, but am still hesitant because it is NA rather than RA.
