    Frederick Community College (FCC)
    Most Accepted by Colleges/Most Expensive

    Thomas Edison State College (TESC)
    Cheapest/Excelsior Inconsistant in Accepting

I used the military discount and got my FEMA credits on a credit bank account at TESC, all for $250.

I transfered from credits TESC to Excelsior successfully after a little fighting with Excelsior. Other have not been as successful getting FEMA credits transfered from TESC to Excelsior.

It's never worth paying all that money to Fredrick.

I heard on another forum that EC no longer accepts the FEMA transcript from TESC.

I also read that the only ones they accept it from now is "Clakamas" (spelling may be wrong.) or Fredericks.

She might have some trouble. I have not noticed 100% success with getting FEMA onto EC transcripts. FEMA works best for TESC students, since it seems everyone else wants them laundered through someone else first.

You have to weigh the costs from all sides. It's 12 credits, so if you compare the cheapest alternative, it's 2 CLEP exams for <$200. If you can't get the FEMA for under $200, I'd take 2 CLEPS. (assuming she can find 2 exams that don't duplicate her existing credits).

Something I have not heard anyone try, is to get the FEMA credits on an ACE transcript and then sent to EC. Setting up an ACE transcript is free, and then if they you can get the FEMA onto it, you are looking at only $40 to send the transcript to EC. I don't know if it works- I don't even know all the steps. But, it's worth checking into.

yeah she spoke to excelsior and here's their wording
She's out of the country and doesn't have a clep center near her... she's on a tight schedual so fema is perfect for her...I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper college that would transcript them and then she could call excelsior to see if they take from the college... WHY ON EARTH DOES EXCELSIOR NOT TAKE THEM DIRECTLY?

I would stay away from Clackamas, as they operate on the quarter credit system, and thus you will obtain 1 quarter credit for each FEMA course (vs. 1 semester hour credit with Frederick).

Not sure why Excelsior won't just accept the FEMA courses directly. It's a mystery to me.

Apparently, Bellevue University will also accept FEMA courses directly, without having to go through Frederick or Clackamas.
