    Hello,

My husband needs 5 more college credits to qualify for a substantial raise at his work. In order to get those quickly, I ordered his AARTS sent to our local community college that he has some previous credits through. But - they only awarded him 4 credits out of all that were listed on his AARTS transcript. I was told that they did not have equivalent classes to grant him credit for.

My question is - is there a cheap and easy way to get those AARTS recommended credits onto a college transcript quickly?

    Thank you for your time.

Yes, he should take advantage of the credit banking program at Thomas Edison State College. I believe it only costs a couple of hundred dollars. Alternatively, you can also just try to use the AARTS transcript and see if his employer will accept that, or get a transcript through ACE, which evaluates military training for credit.

    Caia,

I agree with TCord1964, have your husband try presenting his AARTS transcript as is. The transcript should explain how many lower and upper-division credits are recommended for his military service and that may suffice for the pay raise.

On a side note, I provided my AARTS transcript to my undergrad school and was awarded 13.5 quarter hours of college credit towards my B.A. degree. A couple of years ago I requested another copy of my AARTS transcript and some of the training that had not been evaluated for college credit when I was working on my undergrad degree had since been evaluated and I would've received even more credit than what I had originally.

For those veterans who have been out awhile it might be worthwhile to request an updated AARTS transript (or whatever it's called for non-Army branches) if you're pursuing a degree to see if you can get any additional credit for military training that has been evaluated for college credits since your discharge date.
