Folks, what's the difference between the GRE and MAT exams? I noticed on the MAT website that the exam is only 60 minutes long as compared to the GRE which can take up to 4 hrs.

If you're better at verbal than math, you should take the MAT if it's an option.

I took both; did very well on the MAT, very well on the verbal section of the GRE, not so great on the math (analytical) section of the GRE.

I was just curious about these exams. It seems that here in HI, the University of Hawaii only allows the GRE. However, Liberty, Nova and other schools accept either forms. I guess each institution has discretion.

For most schools which require an exam, it's either the GRE or the GRE/MAT option; I can't think of any which require the MAT only.
