    Hi,

Anyone know of a cheap ($100 or less per credit) online or correspondence English Comp II course? I am looking for a course with no proctor requirement, and I need to complete the course ASAP (a semester schedule will not work).

    Thanks,
    Tom

    LSU or Penn Froster.

    Doesn't LSU require a proctor?

How about a CLEP? I passed it with very little study. If you have a basic grasp on comp and are able to write a basic essay, you'll pass.

    Hi Pug,

Excelsior will not accept CLEP for their Written English Requirement. However, I have learned they will accept the TESC English Comp II exam (ENC-102-TE). Of course, this exam will cost me $480, which is something that I would like to avoid.

As it turns out, I have 3 quarter credits (2 semester credits) in English. So, I am just 1 credit shy of meeting the WER. I am going to try and petition the school to make an exception here.

    Thanks,
    Tom

My comp skills are in good shape. I just need one more credit to satisfy the Excelsior Written English Requirement. Unfortunately, an online, 1 credit English Comp course does not exist. Thus, I need to locate an inexpensive, self-paced English Comp II course.

I'm still looking, so if anyone has ideas, please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Two versions of the CLEP test are offered. One is all multiple-choice, and the other is multiple-choice with an essay.
Perhaps they accept the CLEP with essay. That is what I used with Excelsior (when it was Regents) but that was in the early 90s.

Excelsior also has an english exam

Cost is $335 for the 6 unit exam

DANTES/DSST has a technical writing exam

Would Excelsior accept that as Eng Comp?

Coastline has a bunch of DL English classes - the one I looked at did not need a proctor

Cost is $20/unit to CA residents or $181/unit to non residents

Unfortunately, Excelsior will not accept CLEP (with or without essay) as meeting their WER. I will look into the DANTES and Coastline options.

    Thanks,
    Tom
