How do you get transcripts for the National Fire Academy Q courses?

I called the NFA and was told they do not offer transcripts for Q courses, just certificates of completion. I was instructed to print the certifications, nothing else.

I passed my Q courses a few months back and have faxed the transcript request form numerous times - without a reply.

What steps are required to have TESC accept / acknowledge the NFA course credits?

Can someone who has done this please explain?

The National Fire Academy Independent Study Program has made changes.

    NFA Online
    http://www.nfaonline.dhs.gov

There have been two NFA Independent Study Websites

    1)Old Course Website
If you completed courses under the old NFA website you can use the transcript request form to get a transcript of your courses. It will not be updated with courses completed from the new website. Certificates were mailed in the past and transcripts are still mailed.

    NFA Transcript Request

    * If you use this transcript request and have only completed courses on the new/current website, you will have no records to be found.

    2) New/Current Website
If you complete courses on the new/current NFA website you can get an online certificate and an online reported generated online of course completed on the new website.

Official transcripts are not issued for completing courses from the new website. Courses completed on the old website will not appear as completed on the new website. The reports that generate on the new website do not include courses from the old website.

If you need an official transcript and cannot get one for courses from the new website, I would suggest doing one of the following:

    1. Send a copy of your certificates and a copy of the online course completed report to your college, along with a print out from the American Council on Education website showing the courses have been recommended for credit.

    2. Send a copy of your certificates and a copy of the online course completed report to your college, along with a print out from the American Council on Education website showing the courses have been recommended for credit. Have the certificates and reports stamped by a notary public. I have had colleges accept documents that simply have been stamped by a notary public, when they would not accept them without the stamp.

    3. Get an American Council on Education account (costs) and send the certificates to them for placement on their transcript. Then send the ACE transcript to the college.

ACE only gives credit for Q118 and Q318. Thomas Edison State College has also be giving credit for Q534.

Hopefully the NFA will once again issue official transcripts in the future.
