and it saids that I need
now the thing I'm confused about is the applied professional... They said that they are accepting ALL the credits I sent in... that's 117 plus the 9 gen ed I'm missing... we are up to 126...
why would I be missing 3 credits that can be filled in with anything?

You could have 150 credits and they'd accept them all, but whatever credits don't fit into general education or your subject area goes into free electives. If you still needed 6 credits to satisfy gen ed or your subject area then you'd graduate with 156 credits even though you only need 120.

For instance, I graduated with 121 credits even though my program required only 120, because I was granted 4 credits for Army training. The extra 1 credit was really of no use to me, but it's still listed on my transcript.

I get that... but applied professional is a free elective ANYTHING counts toward it.

It would be hard to say without knowing what was submitted. Have you asked the school?

    Kayausa,

I honestly don't know why Excelsior says you need an extra 3 credits, but to be honest, if I was in your shoes, I'd just take an extra CLEP or DSST exam, get those 3 credits and be done with my degree rather than spend the time it's going to take fighting with Excelsior to have your credits reclassified. You're 12 credits and the info literacy exam away from your degree - just get it done! Don't let this minor setback keep you from doing what you need to do to succeed - eyes on the prize!

    Best of luck!

OK I called excelsior again and this time I got to speak to someone nice and helpful (her name is Sara) and she went through it all and told me that I was right and that she'll update it...

Wow, that was easier than I expected. Congratulations, and now go get those last 9 credits!
